But he also just showed the rest of the team that you can literally blow off a coach or playcall and have zero consequences. Not a good look. The culture he worked so hard to establish is crumbling.

This is what I think surprises me the most. Of all the negative things I can say about Dabo his “way” was something I thought he had conviction in. I think he knows he better not lose too many more or he may lose some of his ability to call all the shots without input. So he does have a price 🤔

How do you know he wasn't punished? Sometimes it's best to handle things internally instead of blasting someone in public

How could he have been punished so quickly in less than 24 hrs? Made him side by himself in the last row of the charter flight home? Please, Dabo is more worried about his 10 win legacy than he is about locker room chaos.

I guarantee there will be a punishment. It was one play and as CDS said, our OL stunk up the place. CK saw the same thing and tried to carry the team on his back. Wrong way to do it but the intention was good. If he had made it, he would have been praised for reading the defense and changing the call. It’s a learning experience. Now if it happens again, that’s a way different story

If you saw your kid playing chicken with the traffic, would you give them a second chance before you convinced them that's the wrong thing to do. If it was with one of mine, you would see them standing a lot bc their butt would be to hot to set on. I'm not saying he needs a spanking, but he do need to pay a price that will hurt his feelings of being embarrassed, he will then say to himself, don't change the play!!!

This is DJU, the sequel.
Dabo doesn’t want to destroy CK2’s confidence and hurt his commitment to keep working hard to be his best.
This is similar to what he said after the S.Carolina loss when Dabo covered for DJU by saying that the blame for the loss was shared by WRs (dropping passes) and fumbles. CK2, as we all know in hindsight, wasn’t really ready to be a starter at any time last year. It was not until DJU showed that he was in the grips of a total collapse in confidence early in ACC Championship against UNC that it became clear that a not-yet-ready CK2 was a better option against UNC’s horrendously bad defensive unit than DJU.
The read-between-the-lines qualifier was that Cade would start ‘this week’ against NCSU. My guess is that if CK2 has another bad game with too many inaccurate passes, another episode of fumbling during runs or scrambles, another game with a loss of poise in key spots (such as his terrible retreat to the end zone while under pressure [which should have been called a safety] and/or ‘going rogue’ in hopes of being the hero), then Dabo will go to a rotational QB plan against ND.
It is also possible that, if CK2 shows a repeat of those problems (as cited above) early in the NCSU game, then H.Helms will be given a few consecutive series while CK2 gets some in person coaching from the bench.

I don't think Cade had a problem with accuracy too bad, he throws a good ball. Now all those other issues - handoffs, fumbles, pulling in on wrong reads, ignoring play call and going rogue, running backwards (he does that way too much, if your gonna scramble go north) - these are real issues and some of them keep occurring a staggeringly amount of times.

My money is on he gave some positions coach this last year to sink or swim. I’m sure it breaks his heart but come January Riley will have his own staff coming in

Riley has not yet proven that he is part of the solution yet. Unless the next five games prove to reflect a dramatic turnaround, then Riley will not be given anything other than some input as far as suggestions with respect to position coaches.

Let's see if he will make the necessary changes to fix the miscues. I'm not real confident that he will. I pray that I'm wrong. I like Cade, and I want him to be a screaming success, ut he has to play better. Also, as I've said about a thousand times, our OL sux!!!!!

Thst was the worst I have seen our team play in 10yrs except 4th qtr of the Coots game last year. I haven't felt so negative about Overtime since Bowden yrs. I'm not all doom and gloom but this game better make Dabo do some serious personnel reviews. We have the highest overall recruit rated OL that I can remember and we looked like it was their first game. We need some D1 coaches and not project coaches.

The biggest problem is at right guard. That’s why Howard got to play there some in the second half, but I’m not sure he was any better.

M.Mayes has, quite frankly, been a surprising disappointment.
H.Sewell plays like a typical true FR. He is simply not ready yet.
Something clearly went wrong with what we had hoped for with D.Pennington. Remember that he, along with Marcus Tate, were both being seriously considered for starting jobs as true FR for the 2021 season. Then D.Pennington busted an ACL. Then again before start of 2022 season, Pennington had another injury setback. While M.Tate has gone to be, along with W.Putnam, our best O-Lineman, Pennington is buried in the bench.
I’m going on and on about Pennington because his power is obvious. In the spring game, Pennington would lock up with a D-Lineman while at a complete standstill. He would then push the D-Lineman back a full step. No running head start, no big leaning. Just raw power. He doesn’t move as quickly as Sewell, Mayes, Howard, or Parks. But lawsy me, he has power.

Mayes isn't that surprising. He got absolutely abused on the camp circuit as a senior and it was clear to anyone watching that he was not going to cut it as a high level player.

The reason the time of possession was so one sided in the 4th quarter is because the offense was getting absolutely stuffed and going 3 and out
We were so shocked that something was actually working on offense that we kept trying to throw it to Briningstool no matter what

It goes both ways. Our D didn’t stuff their O, so they ended up on the field longer on Miami’s drives. When you consider that it was obvious their first choice was to run the ball and we still couldn’t stop it…it’s just as much on the D.

CK2 stared so intently at Brinningstool throughout 4th Quarter that I was afraid that Brinningstool would ignite. Ya think that Miami’s coaches didn’t notice that and make the adjustment to double cover Brinningstool in 4th Quarter?
Oh yes.

JB had a good game on some plays but he was still asleep on others. Overall, he’s had a bad year. Should try some other TEs. Sometimes catches, blocks poorly, runs routes right into the coverage.

So we will have to overcome 2 to 3 turnovers per game and just hope they’re not catastrophic like 90% of them have magically been so far? Got it. Should be fine. Look out last 5 opponents.

I really like to see Mafah as the featured back and Shipley come in for 3rd downs. Shipley will be a third down back and punt returner at the next level if he catches on. He should start to get that work in. Mafah will play another year here as feature back. Also I have to beleive hitting defenders as a 230lb back will wear defenses down more than Shipley at 205.

Spot on. But if mafah doesn't get more snaps and ignored all season as he has, he'll transfer. He grades better than Shipley in every grading category... including blocking.
As for cade, he did lock on Jake. Several times stellato had one on one beaten and cade never gave him a look. Cade plays scared, or so it appears to me. He tries to wait until a receiver is wide open but then by the time he chunks it, they're covered.
The few times he's thrown before receiver breaks, it's been successful. Will he ever learn???

Who is responsible for trying to stop running backs and QB’s from having another fumble? No one ever mentions CJ Spiller on fumble corrections. He played in the NFL and what did NFL coaches do when too many fumbles occurred? Our running backs run too often with one arm wrapped around the ball. Maybe look at videos from NFL players with the lowest number of fumbles. I bet Derrick Henry has a low number of fumbles.

Sticking with Klubnik means..

1. All players are not held accountable by the same standards. X violates a team rule and sits but QB violates the coaches in game play call and 'status quo' card is played. 2. If he's benched, he'll leave (what does commitment really mean, Dabo?) 3. Pride trumps all 4. The true 1.5%'ers are the ones staff, making millions of $$$ (Yes Men) 5. Dabo doesn't like the taste of crow (it's a bitter, humbling taste - goes down easier with a chaser of honesty).

Yeah, you can't recruit 5 star QBs - and then blame them for all of your ills - or pretty soon you will stop recruiting 5 star QBs anymore.
Everybody wants to point to one or two problems - cause they are simple minded - and they want a simple fix.
I don't know exactly why (it seems systemic and widespread)- but the Clemson team is playing significantly below their potential - and if we don't get it going in the other direction soon, the slide will become unstoppable.

Vizzina is the future, but I hope we don’t pull his RS for a season that is now strictly one for rebuilding the offense.
I don’t recall if Vizzina got any token PT against Chas.Southern and/or FL Atlantic. Assuming that Vizzina played in both of those games, then I hope he gets a lot of PT against S.Carolina and again in the Dothan,AL Fire Ant Bait bowl against James Madison.
CK2 can then size up his chances vs Vizzina and H.Helms before the Spring semester begins, and thus decide to stick it out with us or transfer.

Read on article on this site about 2 weeks ago about offensive line developing continuity. I thought we are about halfway through the season and this is still an issue. All of the preseason hype was about how good the oline should be with 4 starters returning. Honestly speaking, they are below average. The inability to line up and consistently blow an opponent off the ball on 3rd and 1 is horrible. This is either coaching, offensive scheme or a lack of talent. Hopefully next season Santa Claus will bring a new oline coach or some oline talent via the transfer portal. As far as Klubnik my question still remains.....Who rated this guy as a 5 star prospect?

They beat us on LOTS of plays. Miami out-gained us. They won the turnover battle 3-1. Those 2 extra turnover plays are more important than "1-play".
Even if Klubnik had handed off to Shipley on the 1-yd line and scored a TD in 2OT (1-play), we still would have had to have made a 2-pt conversion from the 3-yard line. That's 2-plays and who has confidence that a 2-point conversion would have worked from the 3 yard line?
Dabo needs to shut up about the 1-play away, 2-3-plays away crap. That's the crap that Tommy Bowden used to say all the time.

He just doesn't have the experience he needs because Dabo would not pull DJ when he stunk up the place gane after game. Looks like we are dealing with the same issue even though Cade makes some good plays, just not frequent enough.

It is becoming increasingly clear that CK does not go through the sequencing of the RPO. He missed a receiver in the end zone wide-open in the first overtime. CK gets “stuck” in his thought process.

O LINE O LINE O LINE. That is the problem. They are terrible. The problem I think is the strength and conditioning. Receivers are the next problem. They are improving but have a long way to go. Until the line issues are fixed look for the same results.

Well after a few games, if nothing else we see why DJU was not pulled earlier last year even though 90% of the posters here, and most of the talking heads, were SURE that that the decision had to be made. I do hope we see #17 in four games as we have nothing to lose now and we might as well see what he can do and have a serious competition for a change this spring! The problem is that neither of them are or will be a Watson or Lawrence and neither is the supporting case so, yes, our expectations are too high and not realistic. The problem and question is can we rebuild into a competitive team at lease at the ACC level without hitting rock bottom first????

Interesting idea to play Vizzina in 4 games but same problem as last year...

Prior to last season, we typically built up leads that enabled garbage-time for backups. But last season most of our games were close and DJU needed reps to get up to speed. I think we're in the same boat this year. I don't see 4 games where Vizzina could play without risking 4 losses.

First mention of CV, I think. If we put him in, he is liable to get beat to a pulp. But I do agree with getting him some snaps. For whatever reason, I feel this team is not good. Lord a mercy

IMO, we became too dependent on having a generational QB, which masked problems, and now we are complacent in other areas.
Some teams are good enough in other areas that all they need is a game manager at QB, not a first round draft choice.

I don't know if it was complacency - or something else but . . . We aren't going to get a generational QB again
Oregon State seems to be able to build a Top 20 team with a mediocre QB. Maybe we should hire some of their coaches.

Good for Dabo. I guarantee you, Dabo had a conversation with CK and CK won't do that again.

But it just didn’t work out. She tried and I tried but in the end it was a failure to communicate. She did some great things though. She did cheat on me but it was with my best friend so I do give her that. Marriage is tough and we will do better. Come on Dabo

It is clear that Cade Klubnik is a work in progress. What we should be watching for is for self inflicted errors to lessen. He has the rest of the season to learn on the job. Fans are going to have to be patient. Seven wins and a bowl game is a great season at “the other place.” Here it is a disaster. What does that say?

Meanwhile, Miami starts a true freshman who has never started a college game and blasts us out of the stadium in the 4th quarter. Something is wrong in there, the friends and family approach was wrong from the start and actually kept TLaw and ET from winning another Natty(we could have beaten LSU, we had them looking lost for the 1st quarter) and I aint buying anything else Dabo is selling.

7 wins? That means we get better and stay better. GT beat Miami and Rattler picked us apart last year. We should beat the Pack but it’s up there. ND and UNC will be a serious challenge. We want to hike up Mr Mitchell but we’re wearing flip flops right now.

I don't understand why the defense gets a pass since Miami kept the ball almost the entire 4th quarter. Our defense was not good enough to get a stop so don't dump all the blame on the O line.
