Serious question was Dabo ever a good coach?

I’ll catch a lot of heat for this one but it’s a question worth asking. Was Dabo ever a good coach or was it Brent Venables and Chad Morris maybe even Jeff Scott and Tony Elliot that did all the work so to speak that led to our two national championships? If the answer is yes it’s time for Dabo to do it again wave his magic wand clean house. Give Garrett Riley another year or two. But fire everyone else and let Riley have a hand in building his offensive staff. OL coach Wr coach RB coach etc… Also give Garret the freedom to go to the portal asap to start fixing this. On the Defensive side of the ball I’d even fire Goodwin or move him back to an analyst. Sure the Defense has been pretty decent but I don’t believe Goodwin is the answer as DC. Get a big name DC with some fire and energy. Point is Dabo done it before and his legacy comes down to if he can do it again. I believe Dabo can but will he?

Dabos gift was he was able to recognize talented coaches and find the best of the best and hire them. IMO he got tired of the great coaches leaving for head coach positions in 2-3 years... which is what happens when coaches prove to be great.
Now Dabo is hiring former players with great character trying to train them into being the next Morris/Elliot/Scott/Caldwell. It's silly and I dont even know where he got that idea from. The best programs hire the best most proven coaches. We are basically doing what bad teams do hoping for the best.

I think he got tired of the "great"assistants gathering the praise for their coaching prowess, Dabo wants to be seen as the genius that put it all together, when in reality, he is the straw that stirs the drink.

When Dabo was hired, the question was how does Clemson

hire a dude that has never even been a coordinator?
He sold himself and vision to the AD at time and let’s not kid ourselves, he was cheap hire at a time when we were in an aggressive capital improvement project and had to payout TB.
Dabo did a great things as a CEO and was applauded for it. For whatever reason, over last few years he appears to have inserted himself into more of a coordinator type role.
I wish he would go back to selling the program to experienced coaches and CEO the program.
Just don’t understand how he can’t see the flaw and what has become of the program in a very short amount of time.

The successful HC's ALWAYS have great coaches and great players on the team. The HC is NOT the team. Dabo had some great coaches and some generational talent during his run to the top. He does not have that now and it is showing. If he does not act quickly to get that fixed, he will most likely never get it back.

The game that we watch today AND certainly the players on the field are different that they were just a few years ago.
Coach Swinney is still among college footballs best but the development of teams has been changed by the new rules governing college athletics. Clemson isn’t the only team that is having difficulties adapting to the “new game”. He likely will be forced to adapt to these new ways of building a team.
Like many on tnet, I have been thru those years of mediocre play. Coach Swinney can keep our team on the front page...by winning and playing exciting football.
SEE EVERYONE IN THE VALLEY SATURDAY.

Football Operations building / indoor facility/ out recruitment- and he stayed in his lanes. Had a great story to tell parents reflecting on his own experiences. Now everybody has facilities and it’s all about NIL.

Dabo is a great CEO but he is not a good COO. Leading the team is much different than running the team. He has no coordinator experience in his background. Worst yet is when someone thinks they could do things they aren’t good at doing and they wind up micromanaging their staff.
Our downfall is largely driven by our staff turnover and poor choices for replacements.

He was a good CEO at one time. He sucks as a coordinator type coach.
