Serious Question: Cade vs Sellers

If we had Lanorris Sellers and SC had Cade…. Which team would’ve won the game yesterday?
If we changed nothing and only swapped quarterbacks…. Would Clemson win the game and if so by how much?
I feel both quarterbacks have similar talent. Cade’s edge is his experience and Sellar’s edge is his size.

If we had Sellers running all over the field unchecked I would imagine SC would have made some defensive adjustments to shut him down. Thats what a competent staff would do.

This. Cade is the superior, more well rounded QB but SCAR took exactly what the defense gave them. Awful tackling made LaNorris look like Lamar.

We must have the most spoiled rotten useless fan base in college football...that QB could flat run...that's all he has...if he were a RB he would be an All-American...he has size, great quickness, strength to pull out of a tackle and he changes direction every 5-10 yards. If we see him again in the CFP we can handle him...without his rushing they don't stand a chance! None of our defensive coaches had a real answer...We did not lose because of the D and Sellars...We lost because of the OFFENSE and stupidity at the goal line! My wife knows better than to make that dumb mistake!

Do not know, it would boil down to 2 things imo, 1) SC tackle better than Tigers? 2) SC defensive coaches put together a better scheme to stop Sellers than Clemson did (or at least not take out your best LBer!)

Well Cade is not going to break 18 tackles tbh. That said Scar has good enough wrs I could see Cade beating Clemson worse than Sellers did by passing over blown coverages all game.
The reason people are more aggravated with the defense is the fundamentals are just not there and they are regressing. The venables coached players are almost gone and Wes Goodwin is clearly not coaching the fundamentals. Tackling, pursuit angles, gap integrity, and containment are issues and that's a downward trend.

Mafah has been playing hurt the last three games. Why is he still playing? Blocking? Because he's a senior?
A healthy running game and we win that game. Cade doesn't miss open receivers, we win. We tackle Sellers, we win.
I thought if we protected Cade we'd easily win.
We had the better overall team. They had the best PLAYER on the field. That's about it

Hard to say. I thought Cade was very good for 2.5 quarters. It's not his fault we did what we always do (get a lead, go ultra-conservative, not get 1st downs, rely on defense to win as they get tired from us going 3-and-out every series)
The pick was a terrible throw, but Cade is just running "our offense", and I think that's the real problem

Sellers isn’t a qb. He’s a running back playing the position. We made him look like Bo Jackson with atrocious tackling and some poor personnel decisions.

hopefully he develops the ability to throw before someone can stop him.
As for the OP, I absolutely think you guys win if we swap QBs. Your OC is better than ours, our QB is just a difference maker.
But Cade isn't bad. He put you in a position to win.

Friends of mine here in Columbia, who are connected with Carolina, tell me he's also a nice person off field with no pretense.

Cade had Williams wide freaking open for a TD and instead chose to throw the stupid pick towards Mafah.
Neither QB makes great decisions throwing, IMO. The difference is Sellers makes things happen on the run. Cade hesitates too much before running, which we've seen a lot during his career.

Cade is a very good passer. His running is good, but he has the potential to improve there. He is physically capable of running and doing so puts more pressure on the defense. He and the coaches should talk it over letting Cade know it is okay to take off more. Maybe have him work with CJ to learn how to juke and so on. If Cade puts it all together he is the best QB around.

Not even close. That said, when you play a defense that has major problems stopping the run - a mobile QB will eat your lunch - and did.

Clemson has a bad and growing habit of entering games totally unprepared and has zero ability to adjust during a game. Play calling has stunk for many years - it appears to be based on a random repeating selection method.

Cade is a much better QB. Sellers is a heckuva RB playing as a QB. Honestly he’s good but our D (or lack thereof” made him look a whole lot better than he is. Our line overpursued, missed tackles and I have no idea where our LBs were.

You're giving Sellers access to Antonio Williams, TJ Moore, and Bryant Wesco. Those options combined with his mobility would be a nightmare for opposing defenses.

Sellers would be forced to run the "Clemson Offense" if he were here, so he would have to throw WR screens and hand off up the middle. He would be of no consequence to any DC we face.

Good point Clemson's offense is not designed to help a QB. Only hurts them.

I think any competent D Coordinator would have been able to limit Sellers in the 4th quarter. And our defense has some of the worst tackling ability I've ever seen at Clemson since....since forever actually.
And don't forget: Cade had Williams WIDE OPEN in the end zone for a game winning TD and didn't even see him. Instead, he threw the stupid pick towards Mafah. The rest is history.

We can't tolerate Wes Goodwin any longer. I agree that this Clemson defense is the worst in a decade.

LaNorris Sellers is a running back imposing a QB. Not a good passer, only uses his legs. Cade can throw, and use his legs, so he's my pick. A Quarterback's greatest skill should be his ARM, not his legs. Tom Brady won 5 SB's went to seven and couldn't run a lick. He relied on his mind, reading defenses and footwork in the pocket, buying time to throw. La Norris is only good as long as his body holds up from the hits. Clemson never hit him. Lamar Jackson will never win a Super Bowl because he hasn't learned how to throw from the pocket. Historically, No QB who relies on his legs will be an excellent QB. It's exciting to watch, but in the end, injuries always creep up after 5-7 years, because of the punishment they take. Cade has the better arm, so it's an easy pick. The reason Pat Mahomes is where he is among the greats is because he has mastered the art of balancing passing and running. He chooses to pass fron the pocket first, then buy time, then run as a 3rd option. In college, the running QB is more successful because college defenses are not able to adjust to it.

Easy. USC. "Archaic" Clemson offense, as RGIII stated a few years. Nothing has changed on that side of the ball.
