I’ve been watching some old Clemson games. I won’t dare say Sammy Watkins was the best receiver in Clemson history, because in the last 13 years we have had some dynamic ones, but I have never seen a receiver that just snatched the ball out of the air the way he did. He had amazing hands.

We havent had many. Tyler Brown catches with strong hands. Nuk was very underrated at Clemson with great hands. JRoss had strong hands but wouldn't consider him snatching the ball. Youngblood used to do pretty well with catching with strong hands.
One of the fastest, most talented players was M Bryant, but he used his body too much in college and that caused some drops. He got better in NFL but couldn't get out of his head.

Nuk had the best hands, absolutely. So many times he just snatched the ball out of the air! Remember LSU?

Bryant would have been fine in the NFL if he was coming into the league now with its revised marijuana policy.

They got him the ball so many times in so many ways. Honestly, that was one of the best offensive game plans I've seen ever from us.

kicker Justin Tucker's record 66 yard game winning field goal vs the Lions 2 years ago. Down 17-16 with 26 seconds to go and having just used their last timeout, the Ravens faced 4th and 19 from their own 16 yard line after Lamar Jackson got sacked twice and threw an incompletion.
Jackson then threw a 36 yard completion to Sammy Watkins to get to the Lions 48 for the first down. After a QB spike, Tucker lined up and did a kickoff type field goal attempt with a little bunny hop run up and the ball hit the cross bar and bounced in. So Sammy helped set up the longest field goal in NFL history.

Nuk's 2012 season and bowl game along with Watkin's 2013 season and bowl game were the 2 best years for any Clemson wide receivers.

Nuk probably had the strongest, or at least developed the strongest once in the NFL. He caught and attacked footballs like basketballs.

Best at 50/50 balls while in a Clemson uniform to me was Mike Williams. Probably what he did in the biggest games gives him the edge to me.
Best all around receiver while at Clemson based on catching and running after the catch and ability to do almost everything you would hope for from a receiver was Sammy Watkins.
Tee Higgins, Nuk, Gardner, Ross(freshman year) were all special and Nuk has definitely become the absolute best pro of them all but I would take Sammy and Mike for what they did while at Clemson.
Martavis Bryant was a guy that never reached his potential. He is not in the same category as these guys.

Sammy would take over a game. I really thought he would be a NFL superstar but it never happened. Maybe injuries and bad teams.

we've ever had because of his ability to run routes and his ability to catch any pass that came anywhere near him. Plus, his speed and quickness after he caught a pass.

Definitely one of the best that I can remember at not letting the ball get to his body. How he has not done well in the NFL surprises me.

the memories of Nuk, Sammy, Martavis, Cain, Mike Williams, Artavis, Amari, Tee, Justyn, Hunter
All these guys were special to the program, and no receiver on this current team is stepping into the next great receiver unfortunately. Maybe it is QB play, hard to beat the trifecta of Tajh/Watson/Lawrence which were all unique and special in their own way.
Thanks for the great memories this morning icebucket
