I’m annoyed by the American pole vaulter competing for Sweden.

I think you answered your own question.
“Competing for their home country”.

Poor vaulter doesnt really have a country though. His parents met at LSU so they are corndog carney folks who move around. He does have a conference though.

I’ve been in favor of giving Louisiana back to the French for a couple of decades now. I can’t imagine how they’d do it, but I know they’d mess it up worse.

The back story is, he wanted to compete for the US, but the US Olympic committee said that his dad couldn't coach him (coached him growing up, Greg (dad) was a pole vaulter, had a pit in his back yard - coached him through college into the pros) - Sweden said, of course you can, come to Sweden. That one is on the US team for being arrogant a-holes. So be annoyed, but it's on us.

Well to be fair, I think his dad is American and his mom is Swedish, so he does have a legitimate tie to Sweden. Obviously, as a US fan, I wish he was competing for us, but I'm sure he had his reasons for choosing which country he'd represent in his international career, so I respect his choice. Either way, that pole vault final was sensational to watch.
