Monday morning update/staff

Good Monday morning everyone...a chilly one here in Clemson. With all of the changes going on across college football (and more to come if you believe the FSU folks I know), I've wondered if Clemson would see any staff changes this week. I know there is a staff meeting this morning, but I've done my due diligence and I don't expect any changes on the Clemson football side of things.
Just a reminder that we get to talk to Coach Swinney later this afternoon and we will get a much needed update on Bryant Wesco, and perhaps what Coach is thinking heading into this open date.

First and foremost, really hope Wesco is ok and can continue his young career.
Second, I doubt Coach will make any staff movement mid season unless there was some disrespectful behavior.

CASDM, You have no idea what Dabo is thinking. I'm sure Dabo is thinking about Bryant Wesco, and thinking about what is best for Clemson football program.

Do you tell your assistants they are not allowed to look at the portal.
Will your assistants get a 50% raise this year.
Do you lose sleep at night now that vandy is ranked in top 5. Vandy.
Why are you stubborn and narcissistic?
Why do Play calls have no rhyme or reason most of the time ?
Why is the defense is just bad?
Why do the players hate each other?
When will wesco and Moore enter the portal?

My questions for TNetters: Why are so many of you glass half empty guys? Have you EVER been ALL IN? Will you EVER be ALL IN? Have you EVER appreciated what Dabo has done to make Clemson football relevant (and then some)? You do know that the sckeuwl down in Cootlumba has NEVER been relevant, right? Have you considered cheering for another team? You may not fit the culture that Dabo has created at Clemson. Maybe you should go elsewhere .

Geez, you must be under the same rock as this coaching staff …keep drinking the Kool-Aide “‘Cause Dabo tells me so” …at least there’s one enjoying this train wreck - you should be able to get good, free tickets to the rest of our home games.

I started at Clemson in 1987, long before Dabo got here. I cheered for them then and I cheer for them now. As a fan and alumnus I have a right to question how Dabo is running the program. I’m appreciative for what he did for the program in the past.

We could only hope for some much needed changes but unfortunately I don't think Dabo has a clue what to do to improve things. The things that he does know he can do he simply won't because of his stubborn and narcissistic attitude. I'm afraid things will get much worse before they get much better. I do hope I'm wrong.

Dabo isn’t going to go far enough in revamping his staff unless someone makes him and we all know Neff is not that person. Neither are any of the other Clemson leadership. I mean, he has the presidents son on the payroll. The man knows how to insulate himself….
He’ll make some token staff changes that aren’t going to really make a difference. I don’t even want to start on his roster management issues. Good luck getting him to change that.

I'm just amazed that anyone would expect Dabo to make changes mid-season...that's never been how he rolls. If any changes are going to be made, it will be after the coot game. I'm assuming that will be our last game of the year, I don't see this team bowling.

I tend to agree with you. I don’t want to see “death by a thousand cuts.” I would like to see a comprehensive, well thought out plan, that gets rolled out shortly after the season ends, with an implementation program that starts to turn things around.
I hope it is a culture and attitude change that focuses on talent identification, roster management, player development, and a new playbook scheme and strategy, with an emphasis on the right staff to go out and execute it.
There needs to be a demonstrative effort put forth and a massive undertaking that demonstrates a renewed commitment to our long term success.

It's amazing how no one wants to hold a man accountable that we pay 11 million a year. I think a good shakeup mid season would be acceptable. Sure can't hurt anything. If he fired half the staff and didn't replace them it wouldn't matter at this point. His staff reminds me of the federal government.

UGA has doesn’t have half of the “analysts” and assistants that Clemson Football aka “Clemson Family” has.
Also, does anyone ever want to ask why and how Jim Clements’ son was hired as the team’s recruiting coordinator when he’s never had any experience with college football??

Prayers sent upward for Wesco and his family. Guess we'll get an update on Sadler too.
Ask him if Vizz and Smith gets the start for the Duke game. That'd be a good start. As for staff changes, get rid of half with zero replacements. Having 5 coaches for every player is obviously not working.

Hey David, thanks for the updates. Quick question regarding Clemson football
5

How do things feel around the program right now ?? Call it like it is David, you are close to program but please tell me you are far enough removed to see these issues with a much clearer view than those within the inner circle.
On the day to day: I would believe it is work as usual, but with the season turning into something none had imagined, could there be some bad attitudes creeping in. Some bad habits forming that inhibit the team from improvement ? Are coaches in the wrong seat and incapable of getting the best out of their position group?
Something is amiss with Clemson football, no doubt about that fact. But what is it, where did it start and how has it continued. This is not the 1990's or 2000's when our Tigers were nowhere near as talented. 4* everywhere, a couple of 5* players, but the production and execution has been well below that standard. The team seems slow to the eye, just not quick to the ball except on occasion.
Love our Tigers, always will, just would like to have some inclination from someone much closer the the program but not too close.

The DL has severely underwhelmed and the safeties have been abysmal. Eason is a positive force in many ways, but how does a group that has that many 4 and 5-stars get pushed around week in and week out? Adams and Green would start for 90% of P4 teams - he has an abundance of riches. Conn has just flat out failed. The safeties haven't been good in years.
I'd start with those two.

I have to admit to finding a little humor in the defense struggling. Allen came in pretty critical of the defense under Goodwin, and (as someone who coached twenty years) I don’t like new coaches being publicly critical of their predecessors. It’s unprofessional and can come back to bite you if you don’t do any better.

I hate to say it, but the only way to get real changes made in the program is to vote with your wallet. Money talks, and coach spin walks. This is the same for the corporate world, governments, everything. If the money dries up changes happen. Takes a lot of money to pay these coaches salaries

I'm afraid Dabo won't make any significant changes at any time. He seems to be content with what he has most of the time. He let DJ almost destroy our season and refused to remove him. Many, many coaches need to be let go but I don't think he will do so because of family, friends, and former players. Just my opinion.

Maybe there are no changes coming immediately, but you can't run it back with this defensive staff next year. Heck, they shouldn't have all come back this year. Let Allen hire his own staff.

There are atleast 4-5 coaches who likely will be replaced at some point in 2025 on this staff. Doing the same thing every week and expecting the same results is a state of delirium. Dabo is great coach, I have confidence he can navigate making the critical decisions for the success of the program.

I definitely think Riley needs to go after this season. Idk if Allen will work out either. But one of the mail issues is how many of Dabos former players are on staff. It just seems like a great big family business, where he has employed all of his average players who didn’t make it in the league. But that will happen as long as Dabo is here. I don’t think we will get back to being elite for a very long time. Might can be good. But not elite
