What a classless move if true. And for the dad to allow it. Your son was just another guy until Bakich took over.
Apparently Bakich went up to the Cape but the Amicks will not talk.
And if it‘a purely due to thinking UF will guarantee you a spot… OSullivan (a great friend of Leggett and Bakich) will not guarantee you a starter spot. That’s not how life works.

I get what you're saying. Just he is still a kid and probably has some growing up to do. I thought Bakich made a mistake taking him out against Tennessee. There were several things I did not like about that game. End of the day, we lost and maybe there was hard feelings.

Quit making excuses for “He’s just a kid” crap. I have a daughter close to his age and a teenage son who plays baseball. If Bakich did go up there to talk to him and his dad, that shows how the coach thinks Amick is an important part of the team and wants to just talk face to face. Both my kids would be decent and mature enough to hear the man out and talk face to face. Again, if true, total d### actions by father and his boy. If you have “hard feelings” against your coach in Div 1 baseball, and quit because of that, you need to go back to coaches’ pitch and sit your ### on the bench.

Can make it through from the ages of 18-22 without a police record, a child out of wedlock, , death,etc you’ve got a chance. Those years you have no fear and you a lot of dumb stuff take a lot of chances without thinking critically. This kid and his dad probably think the world revolves around them and if you’re not thinking the same way then good riddance. Just stinks that he couldn’t sit on it for a month or so and ponder his decision before acting on it so fast. I’m sure entering the portal is a process that he had to start a while ago.

I think that's it more than anything, just baffling. To me, unless I'm wrong about the Amicks, it'd be like one of the Spiers boys just up and transfer. Meaning a well connected family that's synonymous with Clemson.

Plans to speak to him again. Amick avoided Bakich before entering the portal but apparently they’ve spoken since. Bakich would absolutely welcome him back on the team; that’s why he flew to the cape to try to get him back.

Geech72 is saying that it has been reported that they talked and intend on talking again. You say that it is rumored that they wouldn't talk. We have contrasting stories with one called a report and another classified as a rumor. Just taking that much of it, it appears that the rumor is false.
As for all of the people saying this is for being pulled in the Tennessee game, there's no way. I'm sure that even Coach Bakich regrets the move to a point. If he had thought that the game would go past the 9th, then there is no way that he would have pulled Amick, and Amick knows it.
Unless you are an active participant, why don't we just let things play out? I know that the move tp the transfer portal was "out of left field", which makes people speculate, but I'm sure that most of the facts will come out in time.

That was my thought when he wanted to transfer. Heard him and coach B didn't see eye to eye early on. Maybe wanted to finish out the season and then leave and still holding that grudge.

The more I read about the Amicks, the more it sounds like spoiled, privileged, never been told no attitudes. It was posted here several months ago that Amick didn’t fit into Bakich’s system and had attitude problems. If so, it’s obvious where he gets it from…DAD.
I don’t care if your dad is the President of Clemson, you have to earn your spot and be a team player. If he’s not willing, tell him to pack his bags and who cares what his average was at the end of May.

I guess the best comparison that I can make is that the Amick family of Batesburg in a lot of ways parallels a similar family from Hampton County.
"Chick" Amick was the God Father. He was also a corrupt PSC Commissioner. I worked for a utility during his tenure there. We hauled large numbers of poles and cross arms both new and used to his farm to construct his numerous out buildings. A lot of brown boxes that clinked when moved were also included in the shipments.
When "Chick" called you didn't jump you asked how high!

I can confirm this. I was at the Hyannis Harbor Hawks game and saw Billy’s dad and Bakich. They stood in the parking lot the entire game together

Most - well all, I guess - of the players at Clemson don't have a father who is so well connected to the university. I'm sure a lot get guidance from their parents but you don't see the parents showing up to have meetings with the coach that are made very public. Obviously, there's a lot of immaturity here and it's not just with the son. If he were to come back, it sure wouldn't be great for team building.

I don’t know what stories are true. I won’t knock this young man because I don’t know his side of the story.
It’s just baffling and frustrating. Next years team had/has a real good chance to go to Omaha and we lost an important piece. I know it’s easy to say next man up and not care but this one stings. It undoubtedly hurts.
With that said, Bakich led us to a great turnout and I’m hoping we continue taking steps in the right direction!
