H-Back, need to research this

My first thoughts are we plan on running more and we need much better pass pro, both of which the H-Back can help with.

The way we have used our TE in the spread option is what is commonly called an H-back, 3-back or FB by many teams. A pure TE lines up on the LOS with a standard split to the OT. A split end lines up a little further toward the slot. An H-back or 3-back usually lines up behind and to either side of the OT and can motion easily to become a lead blocker t the point-of-attack. I think this is nothing other than a way for the team to add another blocker/receiver into the scheme without confusing the issue with naming them TE1 and TE2. With H-back, the position can be drawn on the playbook without changing anything else except removing one of the WRs...... makes it easy to introduce as a scheme.

Thanks. I'm mainly interested in why list it now but not previously, if we've used it in the past and not listed it, if that makes sense.

The more I think about this the more I believe that, based upon Saturdays successful ground attack, we're going a little more Pro style. Or a more traditional run/pass scheme vs. strictly RPO.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Williams was doing a lot of work and help spring our RBs

Ross, Renfrow, and Higgins...

Oct 1, 2018, 11:50 AM

Would love to have them on the field at the same time.

Kendall Hinton at WR for Wake...didn't know they had made that swap. Could be sneaky trying to guard both him and Dortch if they go double slots.

We did at the beginning of the game, not so much later. Several key downs we had Ross, Kendrick and Thompson in.

Maybe, but regardless we aren't going to let Wake know.

More accurately it means he hasn’t been ruled out.

But all indications from the coaches sound promising.
