Every last one of em. I'm sure Cade will. I hope he does. It's surreal though... like we all say though. It's never quite as real until it happens to you.

Great article and interview. It should put to rest whether there is a problem with others schools tampering with players. Cade didn't mention if the feelers were from agents representing those schools or directly from the schools ...... although it should not matter. Pretty crapp y in my opinion.

I remember there was another highly ranked QB I think from Tennessee that we had offered and we were only offering one in that class. He went to Alabama which opened the door to offer Cade. I remember thinking this was probably a good thing. Cade had a record of being a winner and the type character Dabo looked for. Everybody may not turn out to meet expectations but Dabo doesn’t give up on players, And Cade has proven he doesn’t give up on his goals. Proof again, Clemson is different. The relationship between staff and players “just means more”.

My honest opinion is that that Cade will take us as far as our OL allows him to go. If Dabo hadn't hired Matt Luke, I truly believe that Cade would have went in the draft or to the portal. Don't be fooled by a lot of what Cade says and make no mistake about it Cade knows and he totally understands why he done poorly in 2023, he knew that with most snaps he would have to scramble to get the play off. Our players will never say anything negative publicly about one of our coaches, but I would bet that he has said things to Dabo about not having any time to get the ball out unless he was running around trying to find somebody to get the ball to. He probably said things like if he had this or that teams OL he believes he would be a much better QB. Or just let me say it like this, if I were the QB at Clemson in 23 or 24, I would have complained about not having any time if I wasn't running around trying to find an open receiver...

Shame, shame! There's a word for that - tampering. But apparently that is unenforceable and doesn't matter and the NCAA has no control over what's going on in college sports anymore, especially since they keep losing every court case they are involved in.

Once the NCAA lost their case over not allowing players to have a piece of the pie that they're baking. From that point on to date they haven't given a crap about Governing college sports the way that it should be. They did NOT want to share the money with the players bc they had gotten so greedy with all the money they were making from college FB especially and they were willing to fight that case in court to the bitter end and they lost, and they don't care about doing what's right with college sports anymore bc they are convinced they were done wrong by the courts...

And that "other recruit" was Ty Simpson. 167 yards in his career.

Earn your way through your play. Nobody deserves up front money. If you play well that will take care of itself. He has said that several times.

We are on the same page with paying fresh out HS recruits that hasn't proven a thing at the college level, so handing them a big check before playing a down of college FB is actually one of those buyers be ware situations IMHO...

loving football

The difference comes down to a player's mindset—whether they blame coaches for their struggles or take responsibility for their own performance. Cade strikes me as someone who understands that switching teams doesn’t necessarily improve his opportunities, and coaching changes are often marginal at best. As Darrell Waltrip would say, he's already in the "catbird seat," so why leave?
Most of the players who frequently transfer don’t love the game the way Klubnik does. Playing in front of 100,000 fans isn’t just about the moment—it’s about the relationships built with those fans, the brotherhood formed with teammates, and the tradition of being part of something bigger than yourself. That’s the essence of football. High school and college football showcase this best because they are rooted in community. The NFL lost that when free agency took over. College football is in risk of it now.
Look at the NFL today. The most beloved players aren’t just great athletes—they’re the ones who stayed with their teams and became part of the community. New England fans still adore Tom Brady for obvious reasons, but there’s also a deep respect for a mid-level performer like Steve Grogan. Why? Because he was there for years, and he still represents New England, living and working in the community.

Football isn’t just about money. At its heart, it’s about tradition—and we risk losing that when teams prioritize buying players for a single season over building something lasting.

I agree with vast majority of your letter and well said!

We also know there’s more to this than football. In NFL, players are pros and while yes teams learn to love players over time and success, there’s also the other side…players like moss and Myles Garrett who don’t years with a flailing team not just looking for more $$$ but also success in your career…moss to the patriots (at a salary cut) to get in the big game… I don’t begrudge players looking to maintain a career,or looking for an opportunity to get team success as long as they paid their dues and don’t just become the hired guns (like we are getting in college now).

Go Tigers!!
