One poster posted that BV was the reason for all of the success.
I do think he brought something to the table that helped the entire team.
But we did have some generational talent while he was here.

Yea if you’ll remember WV beat our eye teeth out in the Orange Bowl and Dabo hired BV. He allowed him to do whatever it took to her the defense right. I hope he will do the same with Riley next year and take the old playbook to the Bonfire!
We have the talent there is no doubt, we just don’t seem to posses the fire in our bellies or the scheme to implement it. I think Goodwin is doing alright, at this point all we need is an offense that can score to be relevant

Yeah, know what you're saying but I'm not seeing anyone saying we missed him because our D is bad etc. Just as stated above, the passions, the energy intangibles that seemed to permeate throughout the team.

BV's a great Coach, and we do miss him, but there's nothing wrong with our Defense. Nothing at all.

No one is saying it's the defense. I can clearly see Dabo's demeanor has changed since he left. Dabo last decade would have never been so defensive and cite stats as excuses.

generational QB at the helm for the last 3 years.
Our defense hasn't lost us many game, so while BV was a great presence, and one that Dabo could lean on, BV wasn't actually making plays either.
Dabo's also defensive because there are no "answers" per se. He can't make CK2 grow up overnight, and he can't force feed CK2 understanding any faster that it can be consumed.
People want answers - fixes. They got used to having "answers" when TL16 and DW4 were around. But that's not how it works most of the time. Those times were outliers, and people need to adjust accordingly.
The good news is is that there WILL be another day. No doubt.

100%. I just wish he would say “Defense played lights out and saved our bacon. Coaching and offense were both unacceptable”. I know he is trying to be positive but at least lean toward being honest.

Coach V was / is awesome! However, people forget he fielded some crappy defenses over the years. We absolutely couldn’t stop Pitts shovel pass at home the year we won it all. It’s always easy to look back fondly but coach V wasn’t perfect.

Some coaches have a presence on a team that exceeds the playing field. BV was that kind of presence. Football is about X’s and O’s But it’s also about a lot of intangibles and this Tiger team doesn’t have them.

BV needed a “pull back guy” on the sidelines to keep him off the field due to his intensity. WG needs a “push out guy” to get our D fired up with intensity.
