Remember the presidential one dollar coins which were minted in the early 2000s?

I have a few lying around and decided to try and get rid of them since they are mostly annoying to carry around and will probably never be worth more than face value because so many were minted.

I went into the local convenience store to purchase a couple beverages. When I tried to pay, the girl behind the counter refused to take the coins. She claimed they were either counterfeits or collectors' coins.
I pulled up my phone and showed her they were legal tender just like Eisenhower, Susan B Anthony or Saquajawhea dollars. She claimed those were fakes too.

Instead of arguing I just paid with my card.

That got me wondering though,.. has anybody ever had an issue passing a two dollar bill?

Yes on $2 bills.

On my BC/Clemson trips, many Boston businesses refused the $2 bills as either counterfeit or a nuisance since the cash drawers didn’t have a $2 slot. On most trips, knowledgeable football fans recognize the tradition and want to know more about its history. On several trips, I’ve been offered $5/$10 for one $2 bill.

I used to request rolls of $1 coins at the bank regularly. Circulated perfectly ok. I learned that the soda machine at work had a horrible sketchy $1 bill slot, but the coin slot accepted $1 coins and those worked every time! Also kept a handful in the console of the car for tolls and such, or the emergency QT hot dog.

I also managed my change by collecting nickels and dimes and used them in the soda and chip machines (penny went to coinstar and quarters went to the casino!).

Working from home now so don't need to do that anymore.

The US should’ve switched to nothing but dollar coins decades ago.

I guess. That was the original plan..phase out paper for coins.

It was estimated to save a few billion dollars by doing it.

The argument was that the coins were more difficult to manage and easier to lose. They didn't fit in wallets with your ID, credit card and other "flat" things like dollar bills do. Cash registers didn't have a compartment for them and they were too close to the same size as a quarter.

Since the digital age has made credit cards, insurance cards, membership cards less necessary and fewer people carry wallets, perhaps it is time to try it again with a larger size coin.

There is no 1euro bill, only 5 and up, but there is 1euro and 2euro coins. I think the same in Canada, which has $1 (loonie) and $2 (toonie) coins.

Once soldiers got paid in new $20 bills.
In Germany some enterprising young men sent home for $2 bills.
In the poor lighting of German Clubs they would pass them off as twenty's which the locals were used to.

YES!!! ON $2 BILL!!!
I'm 99% sure it was Mickey D's about 6 years ago. Most young people seem to enjoy getting an unusual dollar or coin so I carry some with me. I especially like to give one if the person is supper nice or professional.
Anyway, I think I was only getting ice cream. When I gave her the $2 bill, she tossed it back at me. I asked why. She said, "It's fake!!!" I assured her it was real and tried to hand it back to her. She then told me she was going to call the police if I didn't take it back!!!! By this time, I'm getting a little perturbed by her attitude. I told her to go ahead and call. I don't remember who intervened, but someone assured her to take it because "IT'S REAL"!!!

can't blame her, as it's too easy to fake pics of anything, make claims. On the other hand, she coulda' taken a pic of you holding the coin and your ID, in case you were a counterfeiter, thus combatting the problem. It's gotten like that these days.
