USA high content vehicles

Mar 27, 2025, 7:10 AM
Reply

Well if Trump does not bipolar out and swing a different direction on auto tariffs I am glad my vehicles will outlast his time in office.

The list of highest USA content vehicles includes nothing I would buy. Bunch of Teslas, some Jeep products, some GM mid size trucks, Honda van/truck and VW’s.

Good luck out there! I almost bought a new truck but nothing out there was looking reliable for the money. So just kept my 2018 like new F-150 XLT low mileage truck. Sticker at $48k but paid $33k out the door. Really do not mind dumping it in the lake, loading mulch/rock in it.

It seems the dealers are going to have to offer a bunch of crazy financing opportunities on new cars, like Tesla does. Just speculating though. I don't understand that industry.

They may have to eliminate those according to an article I read to avoid passing total cost of tariffs on to dealers/consumers.

Yes I do, they were poorly built, poorly designed and junk.

High tariffs on trucks are already an issue, as the tariffs on motorcycles above 1000cc.

Props up poor products.

Your vehicles are almost without question going to outlast Donald's time in office.

I'd be stunned if Donald's still upright and vertical six months from now. The short version is, Donald's gleefully shredded the rule of law and demonstrated graphically it can neither contain him nor constrain him...even as he expects the countless power blocs both domestic and abroad whose interests and even existence he is now directly attacking to sit passively on their hands. And abide by the rule of law.

Sure, Donald. That's how it works. You're the only one who can play dirty, what a brilliant plan! Just sayin', though...you might want to set up the Iron Dome around your golf courses. A whole lot of people who are really good at FPV drones are feeling more than kind of salty towards you. In fact they're feeling like you've sold them out and are backing them into a corner.

Oh, and not for nothin' - the guys with the very best drones also just coincidentally got JD Vance appointed your VP. JD Vance is Peter Thiel's protege and political project going all the way back to his time in college. And JD is very much a good boy who does what he's told, who, as memory serves, was a vehement Never Trumper who described Donald as "Hitler" as recently as 2021 before his miracle conversion to MAGA right before his Ohio Senate run...which he was going to lose in an R+8 state, by the way, until his mentor and sugar daddy Peter Thiel came in with $15 million to bail him out because JD was such an indifferent fundraiser. And also, isn't JD's wife Usha a Yale lawyer of Indian descent who was a registered Democrat donor until 2021 as well, which is maybe not the profile of a true-blue MAGA?

Why, if I was a suspicious sort of fellow, I might even suspect the PayPal Mafia - a group of libertarian Silicon Valley billionaires whose main concerns are AI, crypto, deregulation, defense, and a stable and powerful America armed to the #$%^ing teeth, had gone and slipped a trojan horse into the Trump administration. Into the backup chair, even.

Oh, nevermind me. It's looking like a bright and beautiful spring. Enjoy your golf outings, Donald. I've seen some willful blindness before, but this is looking like it may take the case for hubris. Oh, and just totally random-like and aside...have you seen Peter Thiel's new toys at Palantir? They're cool. Though I have this weird idea the Palantir boys may not be on board with a pro-Russia stance towards Ukraine, just a wild guess...

They couldn't stop a 20-year old kid with a cheapjack AR-ish knockoff firing .223 Rem from getting within 150 yards and winging him. They also let another wingnut with an AK-47 get within one hole of His Orangeness on the Mar-a-Lago golf course.

Every potential actor in the world saw that...even as Donald has decided he's going to completely turn the world upside down and kick every foreign ally and power bloc in the US squarely in the 'nads. You ask for a list of folks with potential motive and you'll get back the phone book.

The only thing that has saved Donald to this point, as I said, is the rule of law. Which he has shown definitively doesn't matter to him in the slightest.

Well, if them's the rules...have it your way, my man. But the world has you outnumbered. And you are one $%^&ing guy with a cult of personality of low-information Fox News viewers behind you. Not a movement with any serious power-player impetus behind it, unless you count Vladimir Putin. Not an actual power bloc. You're political...and that's it. And power defends itself...always. It's like gravity.

Just to show how serious it's gotten - Ukraine, Poland, Romania, and Germany are all indicating they're exploring fielding nuclear weapons, most of them in three to twelve months. (Germany can do it in a month!) Out in the Pacific Rim, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan all appear to be following suit. There is zero belief the US will stand by them, and more than a little concern Trump has actually switched teams. Russia launched an attack with 100,000 soldiers that drove Ukraine from Kursk mere hours after Trump killed Ukraine's satellite intelligence last week, strongly suggesting someone inside the administration actively colluded with a hostile foreign power to attack a US ally fighting a defensive war. And Elon Musk rolled up to the Pentagon a couple days ago demanding a top-secret briefing on America's defense plans of Taiwan...which all in all is a vastly more serious situation than adding a journalist to a Signal group chat involving a strike on some Houthi nuisances. If Taiwan and its TSMC chip foundries go down to the Chinese, Western industry collapses overnight and we're looking at a dark age that makes the Great Depression look precious in comparison. And there is only one reason I can think of that Elon Musk, whose stock at Tesla is circling the drain, would want those war plans...and it has everything to do with the fact that if the CCP nationalizes - or even freezes the supply lines of - Elon's Gigafactories in China, which produce 50%+ of his batteries and deliver 35%+ of his vehicles - Tesla will be filing Chapter 11 next Wednesday. That's past the point of "personally compromised."

Incidentally, the Pentagon building that Elon drove up to is filled with high-ranking career military officers who swore oaths to protect the US against all enemies foreign...and domestic.

There's a whole lot of red lines being almost casually crossed every day by the big players on Team Trump. Anybody who thinks this doesn't have but one likely ending has seriously not done the math. JFK got popped for a whole lot less.
