Recruiting Offense vs Defense

Why does it seem like we are still a viable option for defensive recruits but not offense?

Recruiting looks lop sided, we still get top talent on the defensive side of the ball but not the offensive?

Why?

Player development that leads to draft success.

It's mostly the OL. We did miss on a couple of WR's but I believe we

Our top three recruits in the 2024 class were all offensive players. Two WRs and a TE

Don't tell Sammy Brown that.

Yeah Sammy Brown definitely was the highest rated recruit.

Also it's great that we got two WR's that will hopefully impact the offense immediately, but the defense is recruiting well at all three levels, where as the offense is not.

Because our D staff has experience and can develop players. Dabo hired a receivers coach with no coaching experience and at the time offensive line coach with little experience. It has caught up and although Matt Luke will change things, it is going to take a year or two to develop them. We also suffered from a lot of injuries from key receivers. The good news is that if everyone stays healthy, we should see a big improvement this year which will attract more skilled high school players at those positions.

Our development at OL has held us back but I feel hiring Matt Luke will pay dividends. To prove himself to future recruits, he will need to show how he can develop the talent he has. I believe this will happen.

We brought in a couple of studs at WR last year and I feel some like Cortez Mills decided to look for early playing time. While we don't really know how our current players will develop, it seems that based on what we've seen thus far we have some great receivers.

NIL money is another factor. Gone are the days of momma's caring about Dabo taking their child under his wing. This is sad.

I believe we have a much better season this year than last. Stay positive. GO TIGERS!

it's an offensive ERA of college football......the offensive SKILL players "warrant" more NIL $ and are most in demand both Transfers and HS recruits.................Dabo still refuses to Transfer/NIL game even though all other FBS schools play it.

Recruits line up to have the opportunity to play for a DW4 or a TL16, especially skill position players. Generational talent at QB that commits early is invaluable to a program.
