Recruiting losses are a necessary step in getting to another conference.

Let's face it...even if they know, the coaches can't tell recruits who/where Clemson will be playing after this year. Up north? Down south? Your schedule is a big influence withn many recruits that want to play in front of family and friends.
I'm sure opposing schools are using the Clemson vs ACC lawsuit as ammunition in every way possible...uncertain future...troublemakers... going to lose and get beat down by the ACC for the next 20 years..., etc.
This may be a year of another "Dandy Dozen". If so, let it be. It's not about money is all cases. Clemson has money too.

OK. But that appears to be rationalizing misses. Just not buying it.***

If we're going to be honest, the fact is if we open our ears to everything that's being said about realignment, Clemson is caught between a rock and a very uncomfortable place if you believe what's being said about Clemson and what we have to offer another conference besides a good FB tradition. People are saying that Clemson offers no value that conference realignment is after. No doubt with all that being said, it is causing me a lot of concern...

Clemson would never have filed suit without having at least a handshake agreement on landing spot. All of this "Where to..." talk is just fluff so as not to face a "collusion" lawsuit when the ACC loses their meal tickets.

Yep...we have a spot; remember, everyone has to deny so they don't look like they were courting us. There is not other team in the south (along with fsu) that moves the financial needle like CLEM. NO ONE.
As far as recruiting..... Clemson FB right now is operating with a belief that doesn't align with the reality. IN anything in life, when your beliefs don't align with reality of the situation you are in, you are going to be disappointed in the results; or at best, not completely satisfied. I agree with CDS's philosophy...its ideal....but, as the reality stands today, it wont produce the number of elite kids needed to compete with the OSUs, UGAs, BAMAS on a CONSISTENT basis. And THATS what the FB staff is being handsomely paid to do. You will get a few elite kids who buy into that and whose families are already set financially, but results so far are showing you are not going to secure the numbers needed. Not enough ELITE HS kids value what we are selling (We prioritize HS kids and will protect you). Currently, we are hoping legislation comes around that will level everything out; but until that happens, we are falling behind.
IF your goal is to compete against the above mentioned teams, we need to make subtle changes. We have already changed in some areas.....others, we have been real stubborn...unnecessarily so IMO. Previous comments have made change harder than it needs to be. As I always say....less is more...don't paint yourself into a corner unnecessarily--not when the environment is rapidly changing on a daily basis.
Almost every serious CLEM fan I know wants to compete against the above teams and do what others are doing. I understand there is a segment who don't want to enter that fray...and I appreciate and totally respect that thought. I too wish that would work...that the ideal would attract enough elite kids. But so far, the results have largely shown otherwise. Just don't complain if we continue along the current trajectory we have been on the past few years.

Agree. Sucks we are now losing recruits to Rutgers, etc... I understand he was a NJ kid but I also understand they're playing with B1G $$, to the tune of $80M per! And Shiano is willing to play the game, with upfront $$. And Dabo isn't. Completely understand Dabos side. Half these kids are busts!! Tough dilemma

I understand recruiting loses but if we don't change/ modify our way of doing things, changing conferences won't help that much.

Dabo refuses to "play the game"
It's no coincidence that our downfall started when the Portal/NIL became "a thing"

Could be part of it but seems a but unlikely that 4-5 unknown road games a year are what's causing guys to go elsewhere.
