I've really enjoyed watching Honor play over the years and

will miss his hustle and fight. He never looked out of his element or that the moment was too big for him that I can recall. Kid played with a lot of heart. I wish him success wherever he lands.

Makes a lot of sense and I'm surprised one of him or Dawes didn't transfer last year.
I would rather have Dawes. He's taller, can shoot better, and has a higher ceiling. You coii I'll Ltd also see opposing PG's confidence grow every time honor was guarding them.
I think both Dawes and honor had their progression slowed down by each other.
We also have a tall PG coming next year. This isn't really a position of need.
Good luck nick!

Huh? I said that our transfers coming in we're as good/better than the transfers going out for next year.
The only player I was annoyed with losing was omax and I stated that last year. I still am bummed he transferred. It was the first transfer of a player that I thought could be a high impact player
I'm there than omax, I wasn't annoyed with losing trapp or Newman, and it's obvious Kidd was going to sit behind pj ball his whole career here.
I would definitely have had naz and Collins over Newman, trapp, and Kidd. Omax stung

Yeah Dawes a higher ceiling he hasn't shown in three years since his freshman season. I actually would be good with Dawes leaving as long as brings in better guard.

They are both are streaky shooters but Honor seemed to be better at bringing the ball up the court against pressure. Even the one man token pressure seemed to rattle Dawes sometimes and he would just lose it on the dribble. Dawes is probably a little better defensively.

Liked him for a lot of reasons stated (hustle, ability to get hot from the outside), but quite honestly he was in over his head at the ACC level. He could make nice impact at a mid-major for his final year. As BB has even admitted, they have to raise the recruiting bar (both for frosh and transfers) and this is a good example.

Talk about crazy. “Muh Portal” came into existence in 2018. Brownell’s win total since then 25 to 20 to 16 to 17 (I’m leaving out his 16 wins in 2020-21). His ability to win has declined by almost 30% since the advent of the portal yet you pretend he uses it masterfully.

You are aware that our sweet 16 team was virtually all transfers, right?
Since you are too stupid to read between the lines, I should say, brownell has used TRANSFERS to his benefit his program. There were transfers prior to the portal being created, right?
And then you take out one of brownells best years, where two contributors were transfers? Why?
Talk about manipulating stats. Lol.

So your just going to make sh*t up now. He returned 56% of his scoring offense in 17-18. The top 5 scorers on his Sweet 16 team were returners. 36% of the lost production was from 2 graduating seniors. And the 16-17 team returned 74.3% of the scoring production from 15-16. So no, your premise is inaccurate at best. Knowingly false at worst. AND I qualified it as post “portal” so everything you responded to was accurate. Even if he’d used the pre-existing system well, we have a pretty well documented inability to improve his team via the portal since it’s inception.

A) it had nothing to do with “the portal.” I was replying to a comment that said “ Do you think brownell has improved our team or made our team worse from the transfer portal.” So, he’s still being disingenuous.
B) context matters. No significant members of the Sweet 16 team were new transfers that season. The context is that once again, to be successful, Brownell will have to seek immediate impact players via the portal. That didn’t happen.
C) he tried to call me out for “cherry picking” dates and leaving out the Sweet 16 season. I only addressed years that “the portal” has been in existence per his comment quoted above. However he cherry picked the Sweet 16 team not indicating that those were not new players that had suddenly made the team better. In context he actually undermined the point he was trying to make.
D) none of this matters because Brownell actually has a record of failure however he puts a team on the court. The Sweet 16 is a clear outlier. He returned most of that team and failed. This year he supposedly upgraded everywhere via portal and still failed.

Wow. I was talking about all transfers. It's called the portal now. It wasn't called the portal then.
So we only count transfer impacts if it is their first year with the program? Very weird way of Looking at things. Mitchell, reed, Thomas, and Donnal we're all impact transfers.

A reminder for our clueless basketball fans:
Transfers happen on every team and every year now. Players transferring isn't always a bad sign. It is now about if you benefit your team from the portal.
Even our clueless fans should be able to agree that brownell uses the portal to benefit our team year in and year out.

Sure Honor was undersized, but he was an experienced guy who has logged major meaningful minutes in ACC play. If we are to believe Neff’s and Brownell’s position is to play in the Big Dance next year, you need experienced players like Honor who aren’t afraid to take and make big shots in the clutch.

Dawes and Hunter were the primary backcourt when we played well. Beadle, who redshirted, is going to play next year. May see at least one more from the backcourt/wing group. Which means we'll bring in a couple of guys there. College basketball 2022

Yes, really. Today’s college game is dominated by experienced backcourt play. I’m well aware of Honor’s step back in production this season. But I also take stock in having an experienced guard to come off the bench. Especially in the event Dawes/Hunter is injured.

That's the dilemma..."experienced" players don't want to come off the bench, especially if they think they can get playing time somewhere else. They're certainly not concerned what the fans think about it.
This is the world of college sports and there's no going back. I'm not saying it's good or bad, that's just how it is now.

The unasked question - why do starters keep leaving a BB team? We all know the answer.

He served his time “honorably” (and he graduated in December). I wish he would stay, but we shouldn’t have a problem with players wanting to take a shot with another school as a grad student.

Honor AND Dawes are backups

Or at least should be at any ACC school. They have enough ability to make someone else better in practice, but neither of them are starting quality. The are dribble and shoot first and rarely get the ball to someone who can score. IMO, they’re both defensive liabilities, especially in a man2man situation. The only loss to me is depth, but hopefully, Beadle will fill that role next year.

to be really depended on. And had a bad habit of driving the lane into traffic, without even looking to kick it back out.
