Yes! I am an old coot named Shaw, Connor and I are not related.
I appreciate everyone joining together in prayer, as we should be during times like this. Please pray for his nine year-old son, his family and especially all the young children who witnessed what easily could have become a terrible tragedy. Imagine being 9 watching people frantically trying for 15-20 minutes, it had to feel like hours for everyone. to revive your dad and getting no response?
I also wanted to publicly thank those of you who prayed for me since late 2018. Feb 1, 2019 I was diagnosed with a very rare kidney disease FSGS. For five+ years it was total #### but Jesus answered all those prayers by granting me a kidney transplant June 4, 2024 at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.
It was as if Jesus touched me, healing me instantly! All credit, honor & glory to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit!! Mayo Doctors believe I've got 25 more years!
Sixteen months later the miracles continue, I'm feeling amazing, walking, eating super clean, losing weight and being the best steward of my gift from God. I actually feel 15 years younger.
No, drinking didn't cause my kidney failure. Hereditary HIGH BLOOD pressure pounded my kidneys like Mike Tyson, Joe Frazier or George Foreman for us old schoolers.
If you have high blood pressure, it is no joke! I began taking meds in my late 20s. I never missed an appointment and always took my RX meds. I was only sick three times in my life, all before I was 20 before this FSGS.
Finally, a final note, I got on here when Clowney was being recruited. Friends said I was crazy to use my real name. I never understood hiding behind some fake name. Say what you want to say and own it.
Feel free to blast away, I'm bulletproof and can out do the best of your chickin bashing. :-D

Coach Hawkins and I walk Main Street Greenville. You were a Stud (not Spud) General when I was a freshman center. I know you but you probably don't know/remember me. Those were some great times and Coach Hawkins was the biggest, positive influence on his teenager's life. We still friends exactly 50 years later. The influence and impact coaches CAN have on their players and school is incredible!

Joel, I'm glad you're doing well. I know it's been a long road and it is really good to sense the optimism in your words and read about how well you're doing. I also hope Connor will fully recover and be around to coach many more young men in youth sports. Your health challenges and things like we have witnessed the past few days in our country and with Connor help put this into the perspective that football isn't nearly as important as we sometimes let it become. But I also hope the Tigers get things going in the right direction starting tomorrow so we can enjoy the season from this point going forward. Keep walking and taking care of yourself and be careful what you put on TigerNet! I'm glad to see so far that the responses to your post have been nice so don't start anything that would change that. Connor Shaw is one tough cat. Clemson lost to USC all 4 years my daughter was a student at Clemson. Connor was a tiger killa 😳. Much respect for him and I wish him much luck with his recovery! Congrats to you also. Kidney issues run in my family due to diabetes so I’m aware of the struggle. Good luck to you buddy.

Coots are people too. Many of my favorite family members are coots. It’s just turns out that I was born into a Clemson household and I adopted the Tigers way back in 1977 when I attended my first game.
In all seriousness, praise God that you have had a healing. It warms my heart to know your life has turned around. Eating clean is hard to do. I’ve lost 45lbs in the past year by changing my eating habits and exercising five days a week. Cheat day is Saturday when I eat what I want!
