Memphis looks like a really good team. Not a bad loss. But Clemson was at home, and the other team’s best player fouled out, and we couldn’t hold on to a lead. Should’ve called timeout at end of regulation. Can’t win them all, but Penny Hardaway appears to have Brad’s number.

Why call the timeout?

Chase hunter had the ball at the top of the key with 7 seconds left man on man; that’s the exact scenario you would try to set up coming out of a timeout. Hunter has 13 made baskets in end of half situations; he just didn’t make a good play at the end of this one that’s not on coaching.

Agreed. That’s how basketball goes. Heard a guy on the radio last week talking about how bad the ACC is. He used our loss to Boise as an example. I immediately knew he doesn’t know crap about basketball.

Well the ACC is currently not very good. Even if Clemson beats Boise it is still not very good.
Did you watch any of the head to head with the SEC? It was embarrassing minus 2 games.

The ACC is bad but our loss to Boise is a poor argument. There’s not a team in the country that’s not susceptible to losing up there.

What relevance does that have to Memphis? Are they in the SEC?

Re-read what I posted, I said he didnt make a good PLAY not a good SHOT

he usually drives into the paint, jump stops, and drains a jumper from the elbow extended. It’s always an iso play he just chose to take a long jumper instead of any of those other things. At any rate if a timeout had been used that’s the scenario we likely woulda tried to recreate; and the timeout wouldn’t have changed the result because hunter made the call on the court.

I agree. For anyone who knows basketball, we were not out coached today and rarely will we ever be out coached as long as Coach Brownell is here. The guy can coach- Period!

Seriously?! That’s been the majority of Brads career! One anomaly year and he’s the best coach in the country?! You guys are so quick to jump on one success out of 15. I need to see it consistently. Jimbo Fisher won one Natty but a great coach he is not. Maybe watch more of the games? I’ve watched more than 90% through 50 plus years. Dabo isn’t THE best. Backich isn’t, nor is Brad. Only one has won natty’s. I’ll agree Dabo is on his way to being one of the best all time. But the other two have to produce a decade of success like the former has to even be considered great. Yea, I’m excited by what Backich has done. I’m kinda excited about what Brad has done lately. He just has to sustain success and prove he’s a consistent winner. Heck, just win the terrible ACC in basketball would be a good start. Regular season AND tournament. Make another deep run in the NCAA. I just don’t see that team. We’re good. Not great. We don’t have a takeover type player. No one can take over a game and carry us to a win.

Brownell has done a good job folks but yes he was out coached . When he saw hunter just dribbling out past the 3 point line with nothing happening he should have used the timeout there . We are fine but Chase Hunter has to be better . He committed 3 turnovers in the last 90 seconds

Again Hunter has made 13 end of half baskets in the last couple of years

had Brownell called a timeout right before Hunter “made his move” Tigernet woulda imploded with calls for his head. It’s a no win situation for Brownell any game we lose will be because he’s a moron.

Brownell was NOT outclassed. Chase made poor decisions in heat of game. But, he did not lose us the game. There were 60 mins. In which many things happened that could have added more points to our total. Memphis hitting those 3's hurt us as much as anything. Shelf missing that free throws at the end hurt us. Tigers played great, Brownell coached great, Memphis just hit a few more baskets than we.
This team is good and has the potential to be an elite 8 or final 4 team. Gonna be a great year for watching Clemson basketball. And I am not a Brownell supporter but I give credit when earned. And he is doing well. Hope he can keep it up. This run by the team proves you need talent to be really good. I think we have it.

Easy now we didn’t play great and Brownell didn’t coach great ? We looked very sloppy late in the game so can’t say we played great . On the last play of regulation everyone could see we were out of sync and Brownell should have called a timeout and helped us get a better shot than a long 3 . That was a terrible last possession no matter how you slice it .

Lots of teams lose like that in the final minute, but it was the missed free throws and turnovers in the last couple or tree minutes that doomed us. I hate it for Brad, because it reminds too many fans of the last minute coaching and player debacles that haunted us prior to last year. The last year and a half we have been winning those games.
