Why does everyone fear Dabo's buyout than fear what we still have to pay him

Should he finish out his contract? I say correct the course now. It's been 4 years of no improvements. There are students at Clemson who have completed their entire degrees with Clemson sucking ####. Let's reset the program and move on, can't get worse when we are at the bottom now.

It's really expensive between now and 2028.

And then merely expensive from 2028 to 2031.

His buyout is still much, much smaller than letting Dabo retire in place and finish his contract. Not to mention the fan aguish, program's reputation, etc. along the way.

Actually, I stand corrected. His buyout IS the same amount as his remaining contract. So basically, Dabo is taunting the university because he knows he gets paid the same either way. BUT the difference is that if Dabo stays all his buddies continue to get generational wealth and the program suffers unfathomable harm in the process. On net, Clemson is still better off parting ways, especially after Dabo entered the fan-bashing phase of his career. Let bygones be byones. Let's start anew.

It's the same a his remaining contract only after 2027. Right now, it's a little bit of a "discount"($60M buyout compared to the remaining 6 years at $11.5M each).

Yep, so this proves my point even better, now is the time to get a discount on the buyout. Let's reset now!

Because we'd also have to pay another coach concurrently.
But, it's not my money. If the department has the funds to make the move, then the decision on whether or not to make a move should be based solely on other factors.

I'd much rather have a hungrier, humble, results oriented coach that would expect less initially and was willing to use all the tools in the toolbox. I don't think that would be a net loss, I think paying for another coach would be a net positive.

Anything is possible if you have few dozen millions laying around.
As of right now clemson athletics would gladly take it
Clemson football had $19M profit in 2024 but athletics lost money https://share.google/odHsbC82Npf3Z2wcE

If you could convince CDS to sign a $40M roster and

…forget all of this student-athlete, scholarship, academic, degree footsy, and field a professional team, then I think Clemson could get back to greatness.
I still think the problem here is MONEY. I don’t think that Clemson University has the moolah to run with the big dogs.
If Clemson did have this kind of cash laying around, then they would have the cash to pay CDS’s buyout and wouldn’t think twice about it.
Look at how much cash Florida and aTm have flushed on coaching buyouts, and they don’t give it a second thought.
This is a money game at this point, plain and simple.
To get 5* players on your roster, and properly incentivized, they will need to be paid 7 figures PER year.
This college game is definitely not about providing an education to student athletes. That is totally out of the window.

Honestly this is the first year we have genuinely sucked. 3 loss seasons are disappointing, but not sucking.
