Rahshaun Smith

Our highest rated commit, according to ESPN 300, arrived on Auburn's campus today around noon for a visit.. Says he's all in with Clemson and still plans to enroll early, but many people are saying he doesn't like the Tre Lamar commitment and the battle they may have at MIKE backer. Any inside scoop on this?

I read on Twitter that Venables has told both guys that they will come in and compete for time at the MIKE position.

No team has 11 or 22 guys that are so good they don't need any more talent in order to make a run at championships. Both of these guys should want to win and to do that they need each other. If either of them don't see and understand if you are good, you will see the field and you will see it a lot, then I am not sure they have the right mindset and attitude to be a great player - not only in football, but in life!
I trust in the guys our coaches ask to be a part of this team. They don't ask you if you are not of the right mindset and attitude, which is a testament to both guy's character. They know it too!

Rashaun and Lamar will be playing two different positions . That was one of the worries Lamar had before committing . Venables latet cleared up the confusion an

The situation with Smith is a lot like Ray Ray last year. Ray Ray dad worked with local kids helping them get college scholarships. One of the hardest thing for some of the kids from disadvantaged families is traveling to all the camps and other unofficial visits, because of travel cost. Smiths trainer back in Maryland works with kids and helps them get to schools they can have exposure and maybe get a scholarship, Smith is going to travel with him, just like Ray Ray did with his dad. Some people who cover recruiting will make a big deal out of it, knowing its not a big deal. Once school starts Smith will not be making trips with this coach. Clemson is in very good shape and he will be at Clemson as long as BV is at Clemson.

Ok thanks for actually answering rhettm as opposed to trolling.. Didn't know that about Smith's trainer. Hope to see both Lamar and Smith on the field together, both standing at 6'3 230 lb's already. Reminds me of when Steward and Anthony committed in the same class. Can't wait. Go Tigers!!!

Prior to now, the only real competition we had for Smith was Maryland...but Auburn always scares me. Should I be fearful, or is there nothing to worry about?

Great, that makes two good recruiting sources (you and Quacking Tiger over at STS) who have both said there's nothing to worry about with Auby.

You have to realize auburn mods are ABSOLUTE homers and make every article seem like auburn leads for every report written. He visited uga to but it's hard to go back to Florida when you've riding with other kids. I'd only be worried about Maryland and I'm not to worried about them. It's maryland

Ah OK that would make sense...the 247 Auburn site was saying Smith is very interested in them so it was making me nervous. They're also notorious for their ability to "sway" recruits at the deadline, so the further they stay from him, the better.

They'll be at Stephone Anthony and Steward's positions.
Which means, if both are healthy during their careers here, they'll both likely be 1st round NFL draft picks (as Anthony and Steward WOULD'VE been had Steward not had to battle through injuries. Still got drafted though, which is really just a testimant to how good of an LB's coach BV is.
