Question about expansion

There is a lot of talk about us moving to the Big XII, but we would fit better in the SEC. I know that there were rumors that we would move to the SEC with FSU a while back but that was put to rest according to some contract or agreement that carolina and Florida had with the SEC not allowing Clemson or FSU to join the SEC. My question is, can Clemson and FSU appeal this? Is there any legal action that can be taken for Clemson to take saying that carolina cannot block our university from doing what is in our best intrest because both Clemson and carolina are public universities? Can Clemson appeal this in a court of law or take any action to try to move to the SEC where we would fit in better?

block GT, FSU, or Clemson... I've heard ARK or UK is on board or something.
Who the heck knows if that's true. Nobody knows. It makes sense, but the SEC should just go offer VT and UNC if they want to expand and call it a day. Would remain one heck of a conference and even get some basketball with UK and UNC.

I dont know if there is an agreement or not but it wouldnt surprise me. I can see why us, uga, ut, uf, and uk all have reasons to keep clemson out. It wouldnt matter if it was all those. Slive said before the last additions that even though he only needed 9 votes he wanted 11 to do anything. He is very concerned with keeping unity which is one reason the conference is as strong as it is. To their credit, even schools like bama and uf dont throw their weight around. The schools all work together for mutual benefits. So i think it would only take us and one more to veto something.
That being said, the reason the SEC doesnt want clemson is they will bring no new cable subscriptions. Has nothing to do with us not wanting clemson in.

The "rumor" is there is a gentlemen's agreement between Florida, South Carolina and Georgia to not add schools from their respective states. Im pretty sure UK is involved to keep Louisville from ever getting an invite as well.
I don't know how true it is and unless they have more votes voting with them, it wont matter now because those 3 (or 4 if UK is involved) are no longer enough at 14 members to block entrance of another school.
That being said, the SEC's primary focus seems to be expanding their footprint and adding schools from states they are already located in goes against that focus.
It is why the rumor is that Virginia tech and, more importantly to the SEC, North Carolina are prime targets. I have heard from several SEC people that they covet the North Carolina market badly and want to get in.
B1G and SEC seem to be more interested in markets. Big XII is more interested in football schools that create prime time marquee matchups which increases the Tier 1 revenue.
