to fly….which took 20 years. Thanks government efficiency. But no ID to vote.

Democrats dream.

I have a solution. Let's make married women get a passport to vote.

It's easier to get a passport than a Real ID, it takes fewer documents. Married women have that extra burden of documenting a name change.

That's lame. I got the Real ID in SC before COVID and it took me longer to drive to the DMV than it took to complete the online application and get the new ID.

It’s the number of documents you need. For a passport, you need only need a birth certificate and an unexpired photo ID (and marriage license, adoption certificate, or other if the last names on the two documents don’t match). For a real ID, you need those two or three plus a SS card and two documents with your current address. The guy in line in front of me had everything but a second document with his current address (in addition to his old DL).

Apply online in SC and you either get immediately approved or anything you need will be identified. It sounds like the person in front of you screwed up, not the process. Don't blame the system for human error. Maybe you believe another layer of bureaucracy should be added because of an individual's error?

Real ID's are somewhat easy to get. Every new DL or ID card issued in Florida counts as one. The problem in Florida is that Desantis closed down so many DMV's that it's hard to get appointments and you can't just walk in. People are sleeping around the block a few hundred deep every night at various DMV's. They show up at 9pm thé night before and sleep in the ground. That said,.the actual ID you get is a Real ID. It has a certain star or something on it. Mine is one.

A buddy of mine lost his ID while on a ski trip in Colorado a few weeks ago. They actually let him on his flight home. He has to meet with someone at TSA at the airport and it was a hassle, but after interviewing him for a bit they let him fly. I guess that happens at times.

With the understanding that you are a true idiot, let me give you a simple example. Suppose your grandma is 85 years old and doesn’t drive anymore. She keeps the drivers license in her purse for ID, but it is expired. The state voter ID laws require unexpired photo IDs, just like the passport and real ID requirements.

Thanks for proving that idiocy. Yes, that’s the solution to my example. But my example was in response to the moronic “who doesn’t have ID?” question that you farted out. Go to the senior’s Sunday school class today and ask who has a DL or other state ID. Then ask if the IDs are current. You’ll find a few with expired licenses.

As long as they don’t need a new picture. If you haven’t noticed, some people can start to look very different when they get old. But this could be something else you could do, go to the nursing homes and help all the seniors who aren’t as tech savvy complete the online process.

Clinton raised the fee significantly, among other things to generate revenue during our fiscally responsible time. Gun dealer licenses were another thing he significantly increased the fees for, so I know far fewer "gun dealers" than I did 30 years ago. A real ID is free in SC, at least, but not in every state.

It's $165 for a first time passport and it already takes a bit. If everyone wanted passports it would take a year. It's about 50 bucks for a new Drivers License in Florida. It's 31 bucks for a Florida ID. It's a complete pain to get an ID generally too already if you go in.

There’s a grace period on renewing the passport after expiration that saves the 35 acceptance fee. I missed it last time because I wasn’t traveling much and didn’t pay attention. Won’t happen again. They won’t let you fly out if it’s set to expire within 3 or 6 months.

My post office has a passport acceptance office with a State employee inside, not just a postal worker to receive applications. However, it’s now by appointment except for a few hours on Saturday. It’s still way more convenient than most of the country has it.

It can be about time though. Some people need it quicker and they go in. You can get it the same day. Or sometimes due to certain documentation you have to go in. People with names that don't math birth certificates and things of that nature.
