Political philosophy question.

Note, this is a purely personal opinion question. Depending on how we view the political situation in the country today and how we view the mood of Americans when it comes to politics our answers will vary. I'm not George Barna or George Gallup. I don't know how to correctly word questions to gauge the mood of Americans. So just overlook my fallibility and help and old man out.
What is your thought about the following statement.
Most voters in America, even though they wouldn't admit it, want a government with an authoritarian leader.
Strongly agree Agree Slightly agree Neutral Slightly disagree Disagree Strongly disagree
Just curious. I'm sure I am in a small minority, but my answer is Strongly Agree. I think the large majority of Democrats, Republicans, conservatives, liberals - all of them, want a government with an authoritarian leader.

I despise authoritarian politicians.
But, that wasn't my statement. I didn't ask if you wanted an authoritarian government. I asked if you though the majority of Americans want an authoritarian government.

The only people who want an authoritarian leader are the current MAGA supporters and the republicans who enable them.
Arguing the democrats want one is just trying to make you feel better about your own deficiencies.

My opinion is that the percentage of Americans who want an authoritarian leader is greater now than it has been in a century.
I don't believe it's a majority of Americans, but I would not be surprised to learn it's a third.
The reason for this, I think, is that more people are feeling helpless as the wage gap continues to increase, as housing prices outpace incomes, and the ownership class hog land and resources. Our government supposedly has checks and balances, but it fosters unchecked economic imbalances.
When the government seems like an oligarchy, a tyrant might not seem worse.

I think it's basically as simple people want a leader they think will act in their best interest, whatever that may be. And isn't self-interest what drives most human behavior? Why do people want to see programs shut down, offices closed and people fired? Because somewhere in all that, they see a benefit to them.

America to take form. When that is happening they are more inclined to look the other way if it is the result of a “strong man” imposing his will.
It’s kind of a lazy, short-term mindset on governance, and we see that with Biden and then Trump respectively dismantling what the other guy did in a matter of days.

When asked the question, "Do you want an authoritarian government in America?" I would be suprised that 39% would say yes.
I have many friends (politically conservative, strong Trump supporters) who would say they don't want an authoritarian form of government, but are cheering every move Trump makes.
I also have friends who loved every executive order that Biden wrote and how he bypassed congress on a regular basis.
I think a majority of Americans will never admit it but they have the opinion of, "I want a dictator who agrees with me in charge of government in America. This system of checks and balances just doesn't work any more."

Aside from Biden, due to senility, all of our presidents are generally strong. Trump is proving to be a mess posing as someone with strength. He is soft and lost from what I have seen.

I agree that some want a Authoritarian leader, but heres the kicker. Many people don't realize thats what they want or a level of denial at the very least.
I think most people want a gubment that will do the things they want done. MAGA is the worse coz they seem to not know or care to know how government works, so they don't care that dumb donald is overreaching if its what they want... and some things they may not have wanted, but want after dumb donald tells them they should want it

Because they want it to come in the form of forcing the things they want into existence and forcing out the people or things they don't like.
They're okay with circumventing our checks and balances in the form of executive orders to achieve these goals. In their mind, it's a righteous implementation of necessary policy.
If you ask them if they want a dictator or an unfree society, of course they'll say no. They don't realize they might be supporting that until a decision is finally made that ##### them over.
