I know what happened. My point is, the game and landscape were very different back then. Those point totals were respectable in '81 (and won us a Natty). The same would not happen today, as we've all witnessed already.

I think you left out 82. Also even though we only scored 21 against Maryland I think Homer set the passing yards in a game record in that ballgame so basically we were throwing it all over the yard!!

I would imagine people scored less back then and the offenses overall in college football have progressed and are more explosive. Our offense would be fine in 1981.
