First, my apologies for the length of this.
A few months ago I announced my son had been diagnosed with testicular cancer at 28 and asked for your prayers. So many of you did just that, Clemson fans and other team's fans alike. I am truly grateful for your thoughts and prayers.
My son, Chase, had his 4th week of and last chemo treatment this past Friday, and got to ring the bell. He gave a brief speech to the staff looking on as well as the family who drove down to be with him and celebrate. Before he rang the bell, he spoke and thanked God for bringing him this far and through chemo. He also thanked all who have supported him. This of course went out to many, many of you who so thoughtfully and graciously prayed, shared your experiences, and even sent cards. As his voice cracked with emotion, I can tell you this proud dad could not hold back the emotion nor the gratitude in my heart for our Lord and all of the thoughts and prayers offered.
I am not eloquent enough to adequately express just how much they meant. One in particular, conveyed their personal battle with late stage cancer and how he found true peace and comfort in fully releasing the fear and worry to Jesus. I was a mess, until I read that and was able to do it. I cannot tell you how that sustained me and my wife, giving us peace and comfort. I am sorry I don't recall who shared that story and valuable advice, but I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I originally thought I would drive back from Beaufort in time to go to the game. As the day went, I just decided that this or any game for that matter was not important enough to not spend time with and help my son decorate for Christmas. Am I disappointed, mad at my Tigers for last night's pathetic attempt, yes, better believe it. Am I sorry I didn't go? I don't give it a second thought as I now know incredibly clearly that it is just a game, Clemson is just my alma mater and my team. My son and family are way more important. So I offer this in heartfelt appreciation for you all, your thoughts, prayers, and sharing, but also to remind you that it is only a game ( if you knew me you would know that I take Tiger football extremely seriously) and their are so many things waayyyyy more important.
Please continue to pray as he awaits the post treatment scan, and know that I am forever indebted to you, will always have a prayer for you when needed, and thank you from the absolute bottom of my heart.

So glad to hear your son is making great progress. You were exactly where you were supposed to be. Family is certainly much more important than football.
Prayers up for continued recovery and complete healing.
God is good...

Praise God! Some good news during a bad weekend. I was wondering how things were going. My son shares the same name as yours. I am so happy he was able to ring that bell and his journey is still just getting started in this life. My family and I will continue to lift yours up in prayer and trust that God’s will is done in your lives. I pray his next scans remain cancer free. Your sons (and your families) testimony for God really grew through this ordeal. God bless you all!

Everyone should be lucky enough to have a son or daughter like yours or a dad like you. I pray for a negative scan and for peace and grace for your son, for you and your family.

Sending prayers. You’re so right. It’s a game at the end of the day. Our good friends just lost their son in an automobile accident last night. I’ve been sulking about losing a game when they’re dealing with something of this magnitude. Will continue praying for your son
