Locks
B1G - Oregon, PSU, OH ST, Indy SEC - TX, UGA, TN Big 12 - Champion ACC - Champion MW - Champion ND
That's 11 teams that are locks. The only question is who is the one team that gets in from the bubble.
Well, it will all come down to ACC championship.
Case 1 - CLEMSON wins Who will committee pick between SMU or Bama? I think they pick Bama.
Case 2 - SMU wins Who will committee pick between Miami and Bama. I think they pick Bama.
So, really, there is no bubble. All that is left is the seedings.

Seldom does the POC violate their number 1 priority.

Wins and losses come first.
I think they did last season when FSU got left out but that was for a good reason. Ask bretfsu® for a list of those who entered the transfer portal right after the ACCCCG.

It wasn't for a good reason.

FSU deserved to be in the playoffs.
If the committee can do it to FSU, they can - and should - do it to Bama.

Ohio State guaranteed Indy in the playoffs.

Ohio State is a lock. Ohio State is 10-2. Indy is 11-1. No way will the committee put a 10-2 B1G team into the playoffs and leave an 11-1 B1G out. Not when neither team played in the conference championship game.
This is not about putting the 12 best teams in the country in. This is about figuring out how to maximize revenue for SEC and B1G.
As much as Sankey might scream, no way will the committee put a 3 loss team, even from the SEC, into the field over an 11-1 B1G team.
Now, if the 11-1 team were in the ACC or Big 12, it would be a different story. Any 3 loss SEC team would get into the playoffs over an 11-1 ACC team.

be prepared for the committee to put a 3-loss SEC team in over Indiana.

eSECpn owns the CFP. Nothing personal, it's strictly business.

If Clemson wins and gets the #5 seed, the committee will select Alabama at #12 to get a clem vs bama matchup in first round.

I think more than Miami or Bama are going to get a look for that last spot...

South Carolina gets in at twelve and Clemson at 5. How sweet would that be?

I like the rematch idea but not enough to want to see the coots get in...

I don't think it's possible for us to get the 5 seed

I also don't think it's possible for us to get a top 4 seed either unless Boise loses. Right now we are probably looking at an 11 or 12 seed if we win the ACC.

i think miami blew their chance in Syracuse, the coots have the ranked wins to boost them above miami, the ap poll moved sc ahead of miami, and if you have followed the playoff rankings, they have pretty much been spot on with the ap poll

My argument on this is pretty simple

If SMU is ranked ahead of Bama Tuesday night (and they should be), they should stay ahead of Bama even if they lose to Clemson in the ACCCG. I really have my doubts that actually happens, but I'd like to see a precedent set that teams won't be punished for making their conference title game.
Absolutely nobody is talking about dropping Georgia if they lose in the SECCG. They would be 10-3 and Bama, who beat Georgia, who be 9-3. There's a case to be made there for Bama > Georgia IMO if you completely ignore where Georgia's last loss occurred. I'm assuming Georgia is gonna get championship game loss protection if they do lose and SMU *should* get the same, but i somehow doubt they will.
