Playcalling

Some of you have began to question the play calling.
All that I can say is that it is obvious it has been conservative and that with the exception of a few plays in the game the CO-OCs have held some stuff back. Nothing has been flashy.
So lets calm down on our coaches and wait until after Saturday to question any play calling. And even then, we really shouldn't question it. Especially after a win.

I thought the play calling against Louisville

was really good. It was probably one of the best called games in a while. We were in a dog fight and our coaches knew it. They boarded the Wayne Train and stayed with it, taking shots when needed.

Just some people on here are being negative nancys.
The Louisville game needs an asterix. I mean a game with 4 quick, quick days before to prepare. Thursday night games are tough. The home dog is the closest thing to an automatic bet you can get. They cover nearly every time. And cover that kickoff, and DW make a couple throws, thats at least a two touchdown game.

That game didn't display our potential for big plays...

Our veteran guys dropped at least 3 balls that would've led to scores, if not at least kept drives going a had better field position for a field goal.... If those balls had been caught....not even close!
Go Tigers! Grab the ball from the air & lower y'alls shoulder into some secondary punching bags!

good case of take what they give ya. Not like the Chad who was too stubborn to change, even if it wasn't working.

The Chad wasn't too stubborn to change in my opinion

I think he would just panic and make the wrong changes. For all the good he brought to the program and transformed our offense, how many times did we watch our RB's break off 7-8 yards a clip, only to watch 3 or 4 consecutive 3 and outs off of all pass incompletions? He talked a big game about running the ball, but he would bail on it way too soon.

I certainly hoped they were holding back two thirds of the playbook because the play calling @Lou was atrocious.
Pooch punt from the thirty six yd line when you have a super stout D and Lou has done nothing? Really, great call. QB keeper draw on 3rd & 4 when your QB can sling it? Awesome call at mid field with momentum on your side for that matter. Why so conservative there?
If we play like that or make the same ultra uber play not to lose the game calls we will get run out of the stadium. That's what the first 3 gms felt like, play not to lose. There is no way you can see the Lou game any different.
I expect to see a totally different offense Saturday night.
And if I see one more fair catch on a punt by a five star receiver that runs a 4.3 forty I think I will vomit on a ND fan involuntarily.

Let us not forget the play calling for the Oklahoma game, and that was with Stoudt at the helm. Our running game was working against Louisville and we didn't step away from it. Sure I would have liked to see some 50yrd passes but we didn't need them. I think we will see a lot this weekend.
