C-Plex, Inc., Owner, Lexington, SC, 1997-2022
My father-in-law had started a plastics company to make little acrylic frames and key chains for school fundraisers. That was all good until he began to grow to the point he needed to start getting CNC equipment. He started bugging me to come to C-Plex as part owner after he had a heart attack. Finally, my wife and I decided to take him up on the offer, so we moved from Greenville back to Lexington (home). Right away we purchased 2 CNC routers, a CNC mill, a vacuum former, and a CNC lathe. We landed a big customer that enabled C-Plex to grow quickly. I brought in my brother-in-law (who was a machinist trained in the navy) in 2000, and he and I bought out my father-in-law in 2003. We ran and grew the company until 2022 when we decided to sell and retire.

Yes!!! We went to Venice and Greece back in June, and we're going to London and Paris with our son when he graduates from Clemson in May. Then we're going to Cancun with a bunch of friends in October. After that were going to plan to see some of the national parks starting with Yellowstone and the Tetons. We plan on taking regular trips for the first 7 years, then slow down but still taking trips until we reach 75, then begin to peter out as we reach around 75-80. As my father-in-law put it years ago... "You have your go years, your slow years, and your no years."

years to those no years without a lot of time in between! Luckily, I have Tigernet to amuse myself with, along with Kindle Unlimited books, while I sit pillowed up in my recliner! And now, softball and baseball for awhile!

with hard work and foresight, and then reap the rewards. Congratulations again on your upcoming retirement, and in the immortal words of Leonard Nimoy, "Live Long and Prosper".
Little known followup to that was "And may a Klingon fivelegged warthog defile William Shatner when he least expects it." For some reason, that part never gets quoted.

Do you remember the television show ER (with George Clooney and others)? On that show the doctors and nurses use these roll around computer stations. We did all of the plastic on those stations for a company in real life. Hospitals all over the country were using them for a few years. Some of these stations were donated to the TV show ER for them to use... publicity. Another thing we made, that I think is the coolest, is the F-16 ejector seat used on the 1st Iron Man movie. When Iron Man collides with USA F-16, the pilot has to eject. His parachute won't deploy and Iron Man flies in and deploys it manually. You can see the ejector seat we made on that scene. Also when AT&T changed their logo back around 2003, we made all of the initial prototypes which were shown on TV all over the world. There were a few other things we made which were visible to the public (like the Nations Bank logos and the SunTrust Bank logos which were on all of their signage), but most things we make are not seen by the general public.

That is a thought, but a long time ago I set 50 years old as my last strip club visit. I'm almost 12 years past that now. Time does fly by...
