Pig's Retirement Countdown.. 3 Days Left

Woven Electronics, Engineering Manager, Simpsonville, SC 1993-1997

Woven Electronics makes computer cables and interconnects for super computers and memory backup systems. We would correct impedance mismatches or any electronic mismatches between their mother boards and any components (like hard drives for example). Woven’s customers included Apple, Microsoft, EMC, Sun Microsystems, IBM, all the big players in the industry. Woven also made wiring systems for many military projects like surface to air missiles (Hellfire, Patriot, etc), submarine to air missiles, etc. I started off as a design engineer, but soon moved to Engineering Manager when the position came open. It was another great job, but my father-in-law had started a plastics company back in Lexington, SC and needed help in the worst kind of way. So… here we go again…

It will take you that long to clear out your office. Be sure and use their time for this, not yours.

Haha! You were as bad as I was about not being able to keep a job at first! 😂😂😂

All kidding aside, I actually had someone make that comment to me one time. They didn’t realize after the first 6 years and 3 different companies all my moves for the next 22 years were with the same company. Just gotta find that right fit.

Best thing I ever did! The last 12 years have been some of my best! Good luck and I'm sure You will enjoy. By the way, the first 6 months I worked as a consultant for the same company. I worked 20 hours a week, anyway I wanted to work them and made a years pay. Good 6 months!

Nice, Woven is next to Cryovac, now called Sealed Air

My neck of the woods. I live a couple miles from there. You gotta watch driving around there at Cryovac's different quitting times with all the traffic (I can't get used to calling them Sealed Air). I drive by Woven almost every day. Always wondered exactly what it was they made, now I know.

In the 90s and early 00s, I worked at a place called Fiberweb, now called Fitesa, across from Heritage Park. They made non-woven material, basically from extruded plastic that was dyed, quenched, scattered, slit, and rolled all in one continuous operation. They would bring in resins by railcars that was stored in silos and also in big boxes called Gaylord boxes, and mix them in weigh bins with scales. It was all very interesting.

Yep... That's the place.
I remember Fiberweb and wondering what they did there. Now I know as well.
Thanks for the information.
