Path the two ACC teams

It seems pretty simple to me.
Miami and Clemson have to win their remaining games. Then Clemson beats Miami in a competitive game. Clemson will be in the top 5 conference champions and will most likely get a bye (I figure they will end up 3 or 4). Miami, being number 3 or 4 when the ACCCG is played, remains in the top 10 and gets an at-large bid.
I think it will be hard to keep out a 1-loss Miami team that was in the top 10 all year.
(OSU, PSU and Oregon will beat each other up so one of these teams, maybe two, will be out of way giving Miami room to move up.)

And these three teams don’t play each other. I’d hate to be the guy doing the math on that tie-breaker scenario.

winning % of conference opponents. Out of our control. NCSU win over Cal was a good thing. Duke beating FSU was not. VT over BC good. You want the teams on our schedule to win and the teams not on our schedule to lose -pretty simple just no control other than win the games go 8-0 and see if it even comes to that. At 11-1 we will be in the playoff even if we don’t make the ACCCG - would be a 5-8 seed

SMU has very winnable games left. Next week at Duke may be their toughest of the remaining. The tigers can't afford not 1 slip up in the next three ACC games if they want to make the ACCCG and a chance to get that automatic spot. Period.

There's going to be around 5 teams in consideration for the last playoff spot. I wouldn't be surprised to see several 2 loss teams get in over a 1 loss ACC team. Maybe a 3 loss team.

This is why allowing garbage time TD's matter when they get down to comparing results. I can hear a committee person now on selection day say some other team was just more deserving than Clemson based on results.

there is zero possibility that a 3 loss team makes it in over a one loss ACC team. Just isn't going to happen. if Clemson wins out, they're obviously a top 10 team and presumably win the acc. If Miami loses one game, with Clemson beating them in the ACC championship, they stay in because that would be a top-10 matchup and they aren't going to punish a top 10 team that lost the championship game as their only loss. Now, if Miami slips up between now and the championship, and yet they make it to the championship, I think if they lose again, that probably would finish them, but that would necessitate two losses. Both Clemson and Miami are playing attractive, offense-heavy football.

I could see a two loss team but a three loss team finishing in the final top 10 feels like a stretch.

Don't see that happening. The committee will take a 3-loss sec team over a 2-loss acc team all day long.
