Pardon my whining, but parking!

Loyal resident of Lot 5 since the ‘80s. The new Tiger Walk boots me to some obscure alley that involves a tough hike to my seats. If this had happened years ago it wouldn’t bother me so. But at this point and in my late 60s I’m not sure I’m willing to make the jaunt. I’m a big fan of Dabo and his TigerWalk, but darn! It’s been a good ride for all these years. And we’ve sent untold $$$ to the program. Time marches on, things change, but maybe it’s time for us to quietly fade away and yet you whippersnappers have it.

You should not have to change parking spaces every year.

Without more information, it is hard to know what your situation is. What gate do you go in and how is the walk from the new parking spot to that gate?

I would be nice if there was a process in place to identify longtime displaced donors and make sure they are being taken care of. This has been an ongoing issue for years now yet somehow has never been adequately addressed.

Agreed. Older ticket holders missing an email about a deadline, go to touch base later and told “Sorry you should have responded to email.” Donors for 30+ years seats with family and/or friends. GONE. No telephone call or checkin. I think there is a list of high dollar donors wanting better seats and the 30+ Years crowd is a target. They want to confuse them and lose them.
We love Dabo. We love million dollar baseball coaches. We want our volleyball team to go Italy. This is how we pay for it.

i will say that in July, i was contacted (i'm an IPTAY rep) about a gentleman from my area who had missed the deadline. Guy is well in his 80's, in an assisted living facility ( more for his wife than him), but still makes most games. His phone number and email had changed and IPTAY was trying to find him but couldn't. I contacted him, he contacted IPTAY and was able to renew his tickets. there are certainly multiple problems with IPTAY and a lot of things that could be improved, but they stepped up to the plate in this instance.

Wow an IPTAY rep that actually contacted someone. You may be an anomaly but Thanks for recognizing loyalty over $$!

I know a guy who has had 6 tickets for years, when he did not re-up his tickets, he got a call from IPTAY. They reminded him of the deadline to renew. IPTAY gave him the opportunity to keep his tickets.I guess it just depends on who (in IPTAY or ticket office) notices a person did not renew their tickets as to whether you get a contact.

IPTAY/Clemson, like every other part of society that depends on charity for its existence, needs big money donors. I have been a loyal minor donor to IPTAY/Clemson for a very long time. Iptay and the school have been nice to me. But the guy/family that has given the school millions over a shorter period of time deserves and gets much friendlier handling than I do. Iptay's annual fund last year brought in over $40M. The big donors put another $80M+ into the pot. IPTAY cannot and should not treat me and most of us like the dozens (?) who made multi-million dollar contributions.
In my view, we should all do what we can to support Clemson. If we keep getting parking spaces, we are lucky and have been well respected by Clemson/IPTAY. If, like me, you have seats in the lower deck, you might ought to remember regularly that someone else would pay more than you most likely do for the right to purchase your tickets and park in STI or Lot 10.
And of course, when Clemson's good football fortunes fall, those of us who are loyal givers at a lower level need to keep on keeping on, like we did in the 60s, the 70s and the post Danny decades. We should give and support our Clemson.
Or so I think.

this isn't about ticket renewal its about tailgating spots, not all are created equal and moving every year sucks... plain and simple losing long time relationships with the people around you just makes the whole experience diminished...

Reckless. great post. CU needs to make sure their longtime donors and fans are taken care of. Even if they get displaced to a further parking area, maybe CU should have a number folks can call so they can be picked up by a golf cart shuttle from whatever location they are at with little to no walking.

I'm in my mid-80's and an IPTAY member for over 60 years. I exercise so I'm able to walk to the staduim on game day. Much longer walk now than in the 60's.

Contact Jason Wilson at the IPTAY office. When I have had issues with parking, I find him to be helpful in resolving or explaining the “Why” changes were made to my account.

We got booted from our Heisman space as well and I think all the parking changes/moves were caused by the lot 5 space losses due to the addition of the "over the top" Tiger Walk. Clemson needs more nearby parking within walking distance and not more grandiose monuments to football history. I could see this parking fiasco coming once the trees were gone and the digging started. IMO.

It also took away a lot of weekday parking which is a very real issue when 2/3 of undergrads are living off campus. Tigerwalk looks nice but for something we use about 8 hours a year it sure takes a lot of needed space.

So we actually drove by there yesterday, and they have paved and painted spaces back in a large section of the lot. I know it doesn't help those who were moved this year, but at least now we can see that all those spaces aren't just gone forever.

If you are talking about Shotgun Alley, that’s a good lot. It has one thing Lot 5 doesn’t…shade. It’s an easy, level walk to the stadium from there.
I would personally prefer Shotgun Alley over Lot 5, especially with the way they updated Williamson Rd. I’m in Lot 6.

traffic management out is horrible. Parked there one year when they booted me from a better spot. Would take Lot 5 in a heartbeat over shotgun, especially when we had those nice trees.......

Check out the new Williamson road. You don’t have to deal with others coming out of lot 10, 20, 21, 19 anymore. Plus, Perimeter rd has 2 more lanes now. Post game traffic should be much better.

From reading the comments, it is apparent that some folks at IPTAY have forgotten their manners. IPTAY has a lot of members but, it doesn’t in the grand scheme of things. A long time donor should be contacted if a deadline is missed. I read below that a rep checked on someone that was elderly and missed the deadline. That is the way it should be.

I may be wrong on this, but isn't there a shuttle service that will pick up folks on golf carts to shuttle them for those that have trouble walking distances?
I hate you lost your parking area, that sucks and i hope you cam still attend games. However, maybe give this shuttle a try. I noticed last year they were picking up folks and there was a number on the golf cart to call for service.

We looked into it last year and you still have to meet them at a certain lot so if you’re not parking near those places you still have to hike a good ways.
