Hopefully better than our gals did. Brutal weather I suspect... or really tough course. But, either way, our positions after Chloe were not good at all.

Not bad, I hope. What looked like perhaps a rough start is getting better. At least Higgins and Swanson birdies offset the bogeys by Lucas and Wills. We just need to make the turn and put up a good number on the front.
We're doing ok on the 5's. Tied for 2 in feathers... but the par 4 doubles just kill your round. Kian needs to get hot. He can streak some together.
They're doing better than our gals. Nobody is giving Chloe any help a tall. She's hanging top 10 but then the positions fall off a cliff.

You right on it Pig. Scoring seems to be tougher on the back which is good for us. Man, if we can shoot a scoring even on the front and end the day +4, I really think we'd be top 5 easily... come on guys. Go Tigers!!!

Inward nine must be the most difficult as it looks like we finished toward to top middle of the pack and no team seems to be running away with it. Optimistic for tomorrow's round.

Let's hope. But we just had a crappy start, especially Kian. Not sure if the weather was bad or not. Two of our veterans just couldn't take advantage of the 5's.
Good job Tigers!!! It'll balance over the 3 rounds. Mich st shot well in respect to their rank.

Clemgalalways® was correct on two fronts: 1) The front plays easier than the back. 2) Kian Rose is a streaky player, capable of stringing several together.
Nice call C-gal . . . it would behoove some t-betters to start listening to you!!!

Thanks. I'm sure some didn't like the statement that we got off to a crappy start but I'm sure every one of them would say they did. Now, I tempered that with we (unless you were there) have no idea what the conditions were when we played those holes. But no doubt the leaders played them better.
You know my pet peeve- par 5 bogeys.. argh. But I am overjoyed with our start. Too many tournaments of late, we've opened with a bad first round and had to play catch-up.
I'll quit rambling. Got to keep it up!!! Go Tigers. Not too much our ladies can do. Pretty much played their way out of a decent finish. Just try to shoot your best.

but that’s an old hackers opinion and nothing more . . . No one will have the connections and relationships within the industry like Coach Penley. rhpltmeg® .
Here’s your TIGER Tee Times for Round #2 . . . attached
Since the guys we have can play . . . at some point, they have got to take ownership of their play and we have got to stop blaming the Coach for their performances.
I do know at one point some players we wanted could not be pursued due to NIL $$ not measuring up to the competition . . . but it seems that has been corrected . . . at least in some sports at Clemson.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions . . . Now you have mine.

Thanks … just always have kept up with Clemson golf seeing I love playing it myself, and not used to seeing Clemson golf not being a major player in some of these tournaments. Hoping changes in play are coming.
Still cannot believe we won the Chapel Hill regional against a stout UNC team last season, and it does indicate that we do have some good players just ones that may not be as consistent as years past.

I'm probably going to say too much but that's what I do. Daniel Castles in his first season since Joey Maxon stepped down. Daniel is known for his recruiting. I look for him to make a huge impact.
Skeet is correct. The guys need to step up. They have the pedigree. Most played lights out in tournaments during the summer break. Why isn't it transferring to in season success? 🤷
Most is consistency. But if you look at our roster, we're loaded with young talent. Will Baker was one of the best junior golfer we've inked. He was near the top of all the junior tournaments he played in... yet, he hasn't been able to crack the line-up. The young jacob immelman can play, as can Colin Salema. Rich Wills will probably be our next great one. If Lucas comes back next year, which he should, will be a solid nucleus.
Kian was a great commit but it's taken him a while to become consistent. So, bottom line, imo we're in transition. But to skeeta56 point, nil is affecting all of our athletic programs. Bakich was talking about it on the baseball, wanting Clemson fans to follow the kids on social media so their clicks can go up and hence get better opportunities... strange world we're in.

Will be interesting to see if they try 2 rounds today or just cut it to a two day tournament. Weather is 100% rain tomorrow. Looking like we're going to try for 2 rounds today. We're off to a horrendous start. But it seems most teams are too. Not sure if it's weather or what. Higgins had a great start with birdie, eagle but has since given 2 back. We're back to 7th but it looks like some wild swings if this kind of scoring continues.
Welp, evidently not the weather. Other teams are getting after it, as are 2 of ours. Sean is having a wonderful round and so is Lucas. Wheels came off on our youngster Wills. Unfortunately, he's not the only one. Andrew ain't far behind. Consistency!!!! We have none. Hard for Coach Byrd to pick a lineup. I feel for him. Here's to a better 3rd round. 🍺 yep, skeeta56 gonna make me drink... and I'm a teatoter.

Looks like we are now tied for 10th. Only Navy is keeping us off the bottom. Really disappointing, as I think we have some players capable of making this a good team. As far as what is going on with NIL, recruiting, etc., I know more about the Georgia Tech situation than ours, but I know schools like Alabama that have "invested" almost 50 million on their facilities, including a nine hole course, will have a huge impact on recruiting outstanding players. Quite frankly, we have nice facilities at Clemson, but have not spent that kind of money. GT has also spent a bunch, as their practice facility takes up 12 acres in downtown Atlanta ..... not cheap. They also have big benefactors. If they are spending that kind of money on facilities, and with the relatively small number of golf team members, I guess we can assume there is significant money being directed toward them. Why wouldn't a golf equipment company that hoped to sign a top college player for their equipment drown them in cash?

Yes Sir. Watching all day, I was really excited how we finished round 2. I just knew that would carry into rnd 3. Our "team " golf has been miserable. Each round we've had at least 2 that's had bad rounds.
Thanks for posting that about Bama and ga tech. I guess a Justin Thomas has its perks too. That tells me a lot. Obviously Tech made the decision to make the investment. These are the kind of things that being in the sec or b1g can do for you. I keep seeing people post on here that Clemson has plenty of money yada yada and money's not the problem. Maybe that's true, idk. But if so, it's going to football and basketball. Which I certainly understand, but when you're in the big 2 conferences, there's plenty for the other sports.
Really appreciate your insight. Depressing but helpful in understanding. Wonder what Neff's plans are for our golf teams... M & W. ??? It's been several years since I've been down. But honestly, I was disappointed with the facilities in and around the clubhouse. Felt it was dated looking... watched a couple of guys practicing etc on the range across from track but brushed it off that I was missing a lot. Guess I wasn't.
Wonder where our facilities would rank against other teams?
Thanks again.

CGA ..... Our actual practice facilities are fine and compared to other facilities I think we are in decent shape, but space is limited and with the distances the men hit the ball now, there is only so much room where it is now located. Another "little" issue is that the players hit from tees on both ends of the range and target greens can really only be oriented to play from in one direction. Therefore, the target greens on our range are not ideal because they have to serve being hit at from opposite directions. Think of greens on a golf course if you had to hit to them from the opposite direction...... not good! From the tee closest to the clubhouse, the tee on the other end is only 228 yards so the men and probably most of the women can't hit drivers or fairway woods from there (or longer irons). From the far tee, it is about 275 yards to the far left corner, but it gets quite narrow there.
The short game area has one Bentgrass green that is significantly large, an Utlradwarf Bermuda chipping green with two sand bunkers, and an Ultradwarf Bermuda putting green. They can literally practice about every short shot they need on that facility. I guess other universities now have caught up or passed, in a relatively short period of time, with a new "bling" to entice young impressionable golfers to come to their school. I'd like to hear Jordan's take on what is happening.
Finally, our team members have some nice places to play and the Walker Course is an outstanding college golf course ..... one of the best. But it stays extremely busy, relatively short for college golfers, and has Diamond Zoysia greens, which our golf teams never play on, so it is not used by our golf teams to practice on. I'm not sure about the women, but I don't think they play there much ..... maybe some, don't know.
Final note ...... with all of the new construction on campus and running out of room, I guess we could wonder how long some of the existing facilities that take up a good bit off acreage will be still be viable for their present use. Who knows what may happen a few years from now.

Thanks TL. Appreciate the response. We didn't do a lot of walking. Just mainly go by and see if the guys were practicing and say hello. Wish em good luck etc. Chatted with Austin and Sean and watched em hit. 2, maybe 3 years ago b4 a baseball game. Ghesh it'd been a decade. And not that it really makes much difference... I don't guess. Maybe I was thinking we would have something on the order of a top golf facility.. without the bar and restaurants of course.
It would be nice if our media would have a press conference with JB. Ask about future plans, recruiting strategies etc. Kinda like football or basketball. Thanks!!!

I wouldn't give up on that just yet as it is very early. Every team has a bad tournament once in a while and it seems good play and bad play are contagious. I don't know why, but they just do. Let's hope that this was our bad one.

Thing is our guys have had several bad tourneys all year

In fall, they went 12th/14, 12th/15, 9th/14 in 3 stroke play tourneys and 1-2 in a match play tourney. Now you add in this one going 11th/12.
2 best tourneys so far, 6th/14 and T-4th/14 (& those weren't loaded fields either they were competing against). To be eligible for NCAA postseason, have to finish above .500 in W-L-T. After yesterday, our guys have a W-L-T record of 28-50-2 (36.25 win %). Could make up ground at Palmetto Intercollegiate b/c not a strong tourney, but the Stanford & UVA tourneys + ACC championship is gonna be loaded. & our guys' biggest issue is inconsistentcy & being unable to string together good rounds together as a team. Think at this point they've showed they are what they are and that is they're not able to play good/great "team" golf.

I don't disagree and certainly hope they are able to pick it up. Can you please show me where only teams above .500 in W-L-T are eligible for the NCAA post season? First 30 teams are eligible through their conference, so how we perform in the ACC Championship will be a factor. 51 "at large" teams are also selected, so like the NCAA basketball selection committee, I don't think there is any hard criteria in terms of W-L-T. I could be wrong, but would like to see your reference.

I remember last year when we were so close. This same topic was discussed. I didn't realize we were so low this year. But I also remember an article I read (can't find now) that talked about the ladies have adopted the 500 rule.
Anyway, here's an NBC article from last year that talks about the 500 rule as its referred to. Most probably don't know about it because Clemson has never been close to Not going.
That said, it appears there is an exception with regards to ranking. This article mentions Clemson as well as Stanford. But I thought I remembered last year we were 500. Please let me know what y'all interpret. Thanks.
