Our daughter, who eagerly awaits word on her Clemson application,

has decided she and some friends are going to Columbia for the game this year. For some reason, she wants to drink from that particular trough.

I've offered her only a few tips:
1. Don't doll up. Coot gals will feel threatened and coot guys will want your number.
2. Speaking of coot guys: Do keep the mace handy.
3. Coot-think is real. Don't try to reason with it.

I welcome any other suggestions.

Have your daughter carry a small flashlight combo with a small razor sharp blade. The flash will flicker blinding anyone trying to mess arrange with the wrong person.

🙏 that all fans Clemson and Carolina will be safe. Go Tigers let the coots know who owns the State of SC.

And avoid strolling by any dumpsters. She might not like what she sees, and a coot might find it romantic and try to romance her!

Don’t park her car anywhere near the roach if it has any Clemson stickers or tags on it. I have heard from several folks that their vehicles were damaged there. One couple told me they went there with a family member to see a coot game when they weren’t even playing Clemson and their car which had a Clemson sticker on it was vandalized.

usuck IS a fun place to party. And it is easy to get to from most parts of the state.

My daughters always said: very fun for about two days, but would never want to go to school there.......

1) Hope she gets accepted to Clemson. My daughter is a sophomore now and it was special for us both when she got her letter

2) Take body armor, mace, and an antibiotic if going to Cootville. I went once. Once.

3) Go Tigers! Beat Loserville.

I don't think I've missed anything. But she's got the FOMO for some reason. It helps that several former classmates are freshmen cacks, and she wants to party with them.

We're cautiously optimistic she'll hear something definitive in December. But ... who knows. She could end up Bridging as crazy competitive as it's gotten.

Rodney Williams played poorly and we lost.

After the game me and the gang were heading out, dressed in our Clemson garb. A little old coot lady, probably about 70, walks up to me a literally shoved me with both arms and said, “we beat your a$$!!”. I wanted to smack her but ended up just stuck in a stare like “what just happened?”

Such a sweet old lady. At that point I realized why it was called the armpit of South Carolina.

Haven’t seen a loss there since.

Go Tigers!

as though the winning/losing has something to do with their existence.
This seems particularly prevalent in lower areas of the country like Columbia.

After the ND/Cotton Bowl, a couple of domers hassled me and an uncle on our way out of Jerry World -- taunts like "Well, at least we can do stuff like spell, add, and subtract."

My uncle shot back "Great. Because that just added up to an A-S-S whoopin'." Priceless. Even they laughed.

And hear the acceptance rate goes down exponentially the closer you are to Clemson. Meanwhile, Skerliner is hounding the child to apply to their Honors College. So UofSC wants her, Clemson? We'll see.

What is it with all the New Jersey students? When I was there from 1982-87 I remember a large number of them at Clemson. My next door neighbor in Johnstone was from New Jersey. She liked to whoop it up 😆😆

Clemson '69-'73 seemed like every other student was either from (in order): 1-Jersey, 2-NC or 3-Ohio...all paying double out of state fees. To quote Animal House..."We need the dues!"
Ps: Full disclosure...I enrolled from Connecticut!

Unfortunately she is not enjoying it due to her roommate. Girl missed the trash with a brownie and left it sitting there for days. Her creamer was leaking in the fridge and she didn't clean it up. My daughter cleaned them both up along with keeping her side of the dorm tidy. The roomy has popcorn kernels all over the floor along with trash on her side. My daughter gets dressed in the dark and closes the door quietly to not disturb the roommate. The roommate turns lights on, jumps out of bed to a thump and let's the door slam when my girl is sleeping.
My daughter finally got fed up and was venting to the neighboring unit and the walls are thin because she heard her. The roommate said the walls are thin. My girl said yea ok and walked out. She doesn't even want to try and fix the issue she just wants out.

He sounded very similar to your daughters roommate, drunk, puking between the beds, loud with tons of visitors at all hours.

Fortunately, it all worked out. I met a future best friend at a random open practice in late august in the valley. his roommate had been a racist, and as we talked we figured a roommate swap would be the best option.

best friends with him to this very day.

most importantly, I hope she gets accepted and y'all have a lifelong of being fellow Tigers. If she drives, make sure she has no Clemson stickers on her car or are covered as there is a high likelihood something will happen to her car. Just have to be careful not to say the wrong thing in the wrong place there.

I don't think they normally send acceptance letters before December. The only time I went there was my senior year at Clemson (1997). We had beaten their butt so bad that they all left before the end of the 3rd quarter. Only Clemson fans in the stadium at the end of the game. It was great!

Earliest she'll hear is mid-December.

And I hope she has the same experience down there as you did! Would really love to see Clemson rub salt in skerliner's open wound of a disappointing season instead of the other way around.

Good luck to her. I was at "The Catch" game in '77. My dad got us seats in that covered section with the nice seats. By halftime we had the whole section to ourselves. In the second half a few of the returned to give us a hard time and then "Boom". Fuller to Butler. Obed Ariri was in my Chemistry class and Ken Callicutt was my high school head football coach's brother.

I COULD be Wrong and Gamecock fans never cease to amaze me, but given how terrible both teams have been this year and given the game is at Noon, I highly doubt you'll see the normal level of bad Gamecock behavior like has happened in the past.
