Open letter to Tiger athletes

Nov 21, 2013, 8:53 AM

Please take a hard look at what is going on in Tallahassee right now. Whether guilty or not, JW is having his life turned upside down along with his family. Remember you are living your life in a fish bowl and you do not know who will cover up your transgressions and who will try to take you down simply because of who you are. Be wary of all who would try to attach themselves to you like you are a recent lottery winner. A little decadent pleasure is short lived and will do nothing to enhance your quality of life in the long run. It is sad you have to live your life in this manner, but it is the way of the world. Think before you act.

great advice. unfortunately when you are the age of these guys you often think you are invincible. I do hope it is a cautionary tale for them. knock on wood we've been very fortunate about a lot of legal issues here.

I don't know if any of them will actually read my post, but I hope the situation will be a wakeup call. I am sure Dabo has stressed the situation to them.

Agree that we have been fortunate but much credit needs to go to Dabo and staff. I know we're not exempt from issues but preemptive caution and education has gone a long way to keep us from where we might have been. I think we all get too caught up in W's & L's and don't think we give enough credit to the fine men and women to whom we have entrusted our athletic programs.

I take it you don't believe in the concept of....

Nov 21, 2013, 9:13 AM

presumption of innocence or "innocent until proven guilty" which is a fundamental concept in the American judicial system.

when the perp is a famous person that the public puts up on a pedestal.

i.e., "will try to take you down simply because of who you are"

Do you take the opposite view that she must be lying or had it coming or something something was drunk or wore clothes that invited it?

It's her ##### and he isn't entitled to it no matter how famous his Jameis is.

BTW...yes I have a daughter. (and two boys)

I don't disagre with you....

I just think the timing of this whole thing is very curious.

I have two daughters and I can tell you that I firmly believe that no means no.

No arguement there...

I wouldn't be suprised if you could trace the email back to somewhere in Tuscaloosa though...I don't think it was the girl/family that got it going again.

My post had nothing to do with anyone's guilt or innocence, but with how our Tigers should conduct themselves. I will not comment on the circumstances, since we do not know exactly what happened. Obviously, you have an emotional stake in the matter and I feel for you since you have a daughter. I would not want to be a young man appearing at my door to date my daughter if I had one. Talk about the fear of God and the devil. Once again, I expressed no views, but simply cautioned our athletes to think before they act. Don't read something into my comments that are not there.
