Quinn Ewers

is one of the best college football QBs. He has been very good at Texas with, and with out, a good cast around him. He left high school omitting his senior year as OHS paid him $1,000,000 to come sit on their bench. Texas paid him $?$? to come home. Arch Manning will again be on the bench as his backup. He will go high in the next NFL draft.
In high school the only kid better was Cade Klubnick. Cade won the state title, won the QB camps, won the Elite 11 finals.
Cade is going to have a monster year leading the TIGERS. To pretend there is a controversy or a better option is not accurate. V and P will have their day, but not this season. Cade will be a Heisman candidate.

I hope Cade has a great year. I really want to see better decision-making (and taking care of the ball); Stop throwing behind receivers; More throws downfield - does he have the arm? We need better WR play, for sure. Cade looked great in the Bowl game when we went up-tempo. Maybe we do that more often.

I simply want him to stay under control, not make bad decisions that cost football games unnecessarily. He has all the talent, but sometimes I see a young man who is trying to do too much instead of simply allowing things to happen. He is competitive and thinks he can make all the plays, which as we have witnessed, it does not happen that way.
He has shown a propensity for happy feet in pocket, and also lacks pocket awareness at critical times. Not always his fault, but certainly can get better in those departments and help Clemson be a better football team.

It's just a matter of getting the Marxist media behind him...FSU has a media machine and was pushing an average QB toward the Heisman...Travis may not have been the best starting QB on the FSU team...when he got hurt he was losing again to N. Alabama...the second teamer came in and put up 58 in three quarters! Clemson should have curb stomped the FSWTC! LSU pulled one on everyone!

I love CU and Tiger football as much as anyone can, but to say Travis was not good is a tad off.
I hope Cade DOES have a great season, and appreciate his HS prowess. But it’s time to show it for us - starting against GA

Cade will put up 444 yards in the air and 44 rushing yard with 4 TDs over UGA. Clemson better when going up tempo. Plus up tempo give defense less time to change personal.

Clemson will never get Heismann since great players never get to play entire games most season. T Lawrence was best player his years at Clemson. Should have won 3 and year Alabama RB Henry won Heismann Watson was best play in NCAA.

offensive line, I would imagine Cade won't feel the need to do too much. I think we trust a better running game more starting the season and build our play action passing game from there.

Too be honest, I worry more as to the running game this season. I think it will be solid and "good enough", but loosing Shipley is a hit. This looks to be the best receiver group in years. We still aint WRU but should be better.

While Cade did beat Ewers in the elite 11 and won a state title. Ewers was always ranked ahead of Cade by all recruiting services. The only reason Cade moved to the top QB in the class was because Ewers reclassed. Hopefully Cade puts it all together but the college game still seems to be a little too fast for him right now.

Of course it’s good enough. The #2 prospect is incredible. However, to this point he hasn’t performed to that level. I wouldn’t say that is all his fault. There are other issues including a bad and inconsistent receivers. Still the game seems to be moving too fast for him right now. I hope that it slows down and he is the guy we all thought he could be and that high ranking said he was.

Who the he!! cares what his rank WAS. It's what he does now that counts. He needs to improve, as I stated before Cade is adequate, but does not excel. We will not us get into the playoffs, if he does not improve. Unless, our defense goes nuts and shuts down e1.

I hope you are correct. So far his High School talent has not translated that well to college. That happens sometimes. HS to College is a big jump just like College to NFL. Some players need more time to develop at the next level. Some players never do develop into their potential.
I like the optimism and hope he has some good growth this summer.
Go Tigers!

I disagree. He was in a situation as a new kid to be "more" with out the receivers and "O" line his predecessors had.
This was kinda true for Trevor in his last season here.
Football is a team sport, and I see Cade as one of the best pieces we have, certainly not a liability.

When any QB has an average to above average OLine you have to overcompensate a little. When a QB has less than elite WRs, you have to overcompensate a little. When you have a little bit of each..... you get the picture. We'll be fine.

We all know HS success does not always translate to college.
He very well could explode into the scene this season. He could also look the exact same as he did last year. If he continues his play of 2023 I fully believe the coaches will bench him and let Pearman get a shot. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Cade might have played better than Quinn in high school, but that doesn't mean that he'll do the same in college. This is an entirely different level. In terms of college, it's not about how good you are in high school, it's about how likely you are to become good in college, which will require a significant elevation in ability for even the greatest high school athletes. The elite college level is just far and away better than it is in high school, even for top-level recruits. Cade may very well have been the better high school quarterback, but to this point, Quinn Ewers has improved his game far and away more than Cade, who has largely stayed the same. Ewers has consistently made smart decisions, made good reads, showed good poise in pressure situations, efficiently run a dynamic passing offense, and thrown an elite deep ball. Cade has done pretty much the opposite. He consistently makes bafflingly poor decisions, makes poor reads, turns the ball over, can't stay in the pocket and runs to the wrong places, can barely move his offense at all, and his deep ball is virtually nonexistent. The Heisman discussion is laughable at this point, Cade's nowhere close to being in that conversation. Forget stardom, he needs to figure out how to not be a liability. He's not even one of the better quarterbacks in the ACC. I'd love for him to win a Heisman this year and prove me completely wrong, but there's nothing in the actual evidence of his play that would suggest that's going to happen. You're basing all this completely on what you hope will happen, but unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much evidence to suggest that Cade is going to be able to play that well this year. The spring game certainly didn't help his case.

of Shipley is TBD, but all other positions and position groups will be better. The WR group (if healthy) will actually be a real WR group again. Looking forward to it.
Specifically about Cade, his Jack Russell tendencies will fade, maybe slowly, over the year as experience will begin to pay off. I think by mid-season, the team will be hitting their stride, and we stroll into the playoffs. Go Tigers!

That’s all true. Cade was and is a fantastic prospect and he will be better this season. I don’t get why everyone turned on him, but it’s the DJ effect, I believe. Plus, everyone thought he’d be Trevor Lawrence from day one which is kind of difficult on him.

Cade may have an excellent year but a Heisman winner?
Apr 16, 2024, 7:27 PM

Unfortunately I don’t think so. I think putting those kinda of expectations on him is not fair. If you look at his numbers last year they were mediocre. Let’s hope he takes a step up and goes from being a okay QB to a good QB or two steps up and goes to being a great QB. He doesn’t have to be elite(one of the top four or five qbs) to get us back in the playoffs. He might can do it just by being good. If he’s great I know we’ll be back in. Our defense will carry this team.
