I think I'm developing one. The side of my toe is inflamed and it hurts like a betch. Any treatment would be recommended.

Only permeant solution is to go to the foot doctor

you can cut them out yourself and it will help for a little while, but a pediatrist can remove the area and kill the root so it doesnt grow back. Try soaking in epson salt for a temporary solution as well.
Cant believe Im talking about this on a football board

Use tweezer to shove some cotton...

From a q tip under the nail in the corner. The ingrown nail is cutting into the skin. The cotton will help force it out. Will not be comfortable but probably better than currently.

By doctor. Playing basketball did a number on my toes. The cotton trip helps. You can also soak in hot Epsom salt then cut it out while your foot is numb. Will help temporarily but may come back. Limiting the wearing of tight shoes also help.

Drink 8 beers, take 2 muscle relaxers

Then have your wife get her surgical kit out and go to work. You might also want a belt to bite down on, but there is a possibility that puss will shoot out and hit the ceiling, so that's kind of cool. Anyway, that's been my experience on fixing an ingrown toe nail.

You can soak it in epsom salt for a while and brush it with a soft tooth brush. That helps sometimes. I had a bad one that grew from the bottom of the toenail back into my toe when I was in the Army. It got infected pretty bad and I ended up having to have half of my toenail cut out. It sucked.

The doctor did work but the second time I told him I would just sit up. Big mistake doctor said I got white as a ghost and about passed out. The feeling after was great relief though.

The only permanant solution is to have a doctor cut it out. The novocaine shot will hurt and after that wears off and you feel that there is no pain you will wish you had done it SOONER!

Soaking it is good. After that lift up the nail on the infected side with the nail file and pus will come out it makes it feel better. Try to drain it completely by lifting up the nail. You can stuff cotton under it to keep it up but you don't have to. Drain it a few times a day trying to get the nail from under the skin. It will start to get better in a few days. If you don't do it at home go to doc and he will cut the nail off. In the future to prevent it don't cut your nail off so short at the corners Leave it extended pass the bed.

Soak in turpentine to relieve the soreness then soak in hot water for 30 min to an hour. Use new nail clippers starting at the middle and working to the corner. Try to lift the corner while it is soft and either cut it or put cotton underneath.
