That's great!

I've seen similar examples fictionalized in film through the years. In the movie "The Gods Must Be Crazy," a sub-plot is that an aborigines warrior must rid his village of an unknown, mysterious gift from the gods that ultimately only brings bad luck - a Coke bottle thrown from an airplane. It's a pretty funny movie in its own right, sort of a "Crocodile Dundee" pre-cursor. Recommended.

And of course, "The Man Who Would Be King" a great one with Caine and Connery, from Kipling, about a British soldier who Afghani Tribesmen assume is a god.

And the classic object of worship from Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970), an atomic bomb
