The OL has looked really good these past 3 games.
I cannot remember the last time that I had that thought.

Those are his top 3 hires.
Also, hiring Streeter as QBs coach is in his top decisions as well. Brought in 3 #1 QBs. Promoting him to OC though… top WORST decisions.

I like what I have seen, even in Georgia game Cade had time but he was not in rhythym with receivers yet.
First games are always difficult, especially against #1 teams.

In other news: hiring a coach with real life experience can create a positive impact?
It’s just funny that when fans complain, we aren’t true fans. Then Dabo makes the move, and it works. Well, this is what us non-fans were hoping for. This is success over complacency. I love it.
That’s no knock on Austin, but he wasn’t ready for this job.

your comment seems correct. Yet he coached a few years somewhere before clemson and understudied Robbie for a couple also. So I wonder why he wasn't ready. In any case coach Luke has been the impactful hire many thought he would be. I think having him for the bowl and for spring ball helped jumpstart this thing.

Honestly, Clemson never had an “elite” line under Caldwell. Austin didn’t have a plethora of NFL experience of his own. So you had a guy, who was decent in College, with one stint at Furman, and learning from Caldwell who was nearing retirement and wasn’t producing elite OLinemen.

out of a year of retirement after his UGA stint to come here to God's Country and have a go at it again. When you match our foundation with that kind of talent - as we've seen before great things can happen.

I agree! OL has looked stout so far this season. I think a lot of credit is due to Matt Luke because I think a lot of Cade's confidence is relative to the improved OL play.

Truly what shocked me the most was we had an early 3rd & 2 against UGA and I expected to get stuffed. Instead, we went for an easy 5 yards. Can’t remember the last time it was that easy in a big game.
Go Tigers!

The level of competition (since UGA) may have something to do with that. However, Kirby's defenses normally don't get a lot of sacks the past few seasons (except for 7 sacks on DJU in 2021 comes to mind). Our defensive mindset is to contain instead, which works. I would say that UGA has been successful without a ton of sacks.

Amazing to see this type of impact just by replacing Thomas Austin with Matt Luke.
Although we haven't noticed it as much at DE, I believe replacing Lemanski Hall with Chris Rumph will prove to be almost as consequential as the Luke hire. That group was always extremely talented, but they always underperformed, IMO. I think we are in a really good spot with TJ Parker and AJ Hoffler moving forward. Both should develop nicely under Rumph.

when you only score three points it is easy to look back and say the OL played poorly, but it was so odd that most of us felt like the OL looked very much improved. It is easy to see these last two games that their fundamentals are really looking good on individual levels and they are moving well as a cohesive unit....
