He must have been on one he!! of a bender too.
I think that was right before his latest banning. I feel like its been about 9 months or so.
He was entertaining to some degree, but yeah it was a bit sad.

How many hurricanes have you evacuated from? Do you live in the region?
I think in my childhood, we evacuated for 8.
Flooding events are usually devastating bc evacuating isn't normally an option. Acting as though it is an option is extremely naive and disresepectufl to the folks in the area.
I have a hard time understanding where you'd draw the line.
Snow storm coming? Do we bolt south?
Line of storms dropping Nader's in Arkansas? Do I go to Atlanta?
Cat 3+ hurricanes were where we drew the line to leave. And in Helene's case, we would have started packing on Sunday / Monday. The notices you've provided were issued wed morning.
You have a family? Imagine loading up all your valuables, all your family members, boarding up, filling sand bags, getting documentation, locking up, all that fuckingshit in what, 3-4 hours?
Then imagine the whole region leaves. Gridlocked. In a cat 4 hurricane. Lol. Bc they were notified ~6 hours? before it started DUMPING rain....
I keep a bag prepared for stuff like this, most don't. In this scenario, I'd have to go to daycare, get my kids, get all their #### packed, clothes, etc. And then book it. I work from home, what if I was at a plant an hour away already?
Oh, and then evacuate to where? E TN? The coast? Lol. C'mon
This is like blaming people in the second WTC tower for not leaving. That's a more accurate time comparison than the typical hurricane evacuation protocols and guidances.
I was prepared for this to hit us. I looked at elevations and flood maps. I had fuel, good, everything charged, go/no-go call to get my kids early in case it was crazy. If that level of devastation happened, j wouldve been screwed. In no chance would I have evacuated from middle TN for a ####### hurricane. I still wouldn't....
So just stop bro.

I’m just kidding. I’ve learned not to argue with people on the inter webs.
Did they have ample warning to get out? yes. Was the hurricane and its aftermath worse than anyone expected, yes. Thus many people just didn’t leave.
My uncle stayed in Homestead for Hurricane Andrew bc he didn’t think it would be too bad, they hid in their bathroom tub during the eye wall only to emerge to complete leveled devastation afterwards. Some people will always stay.

Obed was right that it was far worse than predicted and there probably should have been an evacuation order. You can throw inches at me all day long and say my life is in danger and I'm probably not going to let that sink in. Start having conversations with me about my house getting swept away.
