My First Clemson T-Shirt

Posted this picture before, but was just discussing the topic with my wife this morning --- Lovingly reminded her not to ever throw anything of mine away under any condition for any reason whatsoever in this lifetime or any time subsequent thereto --- She said, "Got it" and we laughed.
Received this shirt when I was 5-6 years old around 1957. Cousin Frank was attending Clemson and brought it to me. We all lived in Anderson. It was too big and I remember looking forward to the time I would be able to wear it which turned out to be a few years later. That wait seemed like a life time.

Very nice. I've always loved that Tiger Logo and wish it would show up more on shirts, hats, etc.

The date stated is interesting. I enrolled in 1962.
My memory may be a bit faulty, but I thought we were still going by Clemson A&M that year. Memory also tells me that the name was changed to Clemson College in 1963 and Clemson University in 1964.
Perhaps the "College" name was used loosely before 1963 and "officially" in 1963 - or - perhaps my memory isn't so good.
Are there any more old-timers that can shed some light on it?

Everything I found in old articles referred to Clemson College from the very beginning. Although I know it was the A&M school for South Carolina, I can't find any reference to that being the main name it was called. Certainly everybody referred to Clemson as Clemson College until it became a university.
And Cousin Frank was born in 1934, so he would have had to finish long before the date you mentioned. So I believe I have my dates correct.

Clemson Agric and Mech College. About 25 years ago, he had a new stone put in it with a C/41 and palmetto tree inlaid.
Still looks great after 72 years and WWII.

Football. I only remember him during a runback on a kickoff or a punt - whoever he was, he could flat fly.
