Forget about the ambiguity of the first sentence. I think I know what they were trying to say, but they said it very poorly.
Look at paragraph i.
Not tied team defeated each of the other tied teams, but one time team lost to each of the other tied teams.
If one of the teams lost to another team, doesn't that mean that one of the teams had to defeat one of the tied teams?
But, assuming three teams finish 8-0 in the ACC, it looks to me like it will go down to tie breaker #5.

It could be we don’t get in. Is that bad for making the CFP. Maybe not. Definitely would not get a first round bye. But could end up highly ranked with only 1 loss.

It sounds like Clemson needs to beat Pitt, and Pitt beat SMU. Then if we dropped a game by some chance we still get in because of rule number 2. And if we didn’t drop a game we still get in and don’t have to worry about rule number 5 lol.

The likelihood of all three teams going undefeated in conference play is almost none, especially with how Miami has been playing with fire lately. But yeah, the wording here makes no sense

I could be wrong but if all 3 win out, and there is no head to head comparison, then the 2 highest ranked ACC teams would play for the championship. Since SMU is so far behind Miami and Clemson currently, they would not jump past either one if everyone keeps winning.

Assuming 3 way tie between Clemson/Miami/SMU (not necessarily at 8-0), the first sentence would be like if Clemson beat both SMU and Miami, but Miami and SMU did not play. Clemson would be selected and then tiebreaker restarts to pick between SMU and Miami.
Second sentence is if SMU lost to both Miami and Clemson, but Miami and Clemson did not play. SMU is eliminated so Miami/Clemson are selected.
And yeah, if they all finish 8-0 it would go down to winning percentage of conference opponents (I'm assuming conference win %, but I don't see where it explicitly says that)
I looked at the same thing yesterday, and because I was bored, looked at our opponents. After removing common opponents--
Clemson: NCSt, Stan, WF, UVa, VT, Pitt
Miami: VT, Cal, Duke, GT, WF, Syr
SMU: Stan, Duke, Pitt, BC, UVa, Cal
Or I think an easier way to look at it:
Clemson vs Miami
Clemson: NCSt, Stan, Pitt, UVa
Miami: Cal, Duke, GT, Syr
Clemson vs SMU
Clemson: NCSt, WF, VT
