Observations from the Wake game

- The OL definitely started out rough. First two series they were struggling to open up running lanes and defend pressure but settled into the game real nice from the first 2 series on.

- Cade has really grown as a QB. Missed a few throws early but overall was really effective and accurate but most impressively, decisive. He’s reading defenses and throwing the ball with quickness and a conviction he didn’t last year.

- WR room is extremely well balanced. A lot of different guys that can beat you in a variety of different ways, something these teams the past couple seasons have desperately missed. It was also really nice to see Stellato have what was probably his best game so far at Clemson. I hate injuries have taken so much playing time from him in his career at Clemson.

- P Woods is a HUGE difference maker. That DL is night and day better with just his presence on the field.

- LB play needs to improve a little bit before we get into the “championship phase” of this season.

- DB play has really come along. Outside of a couple of guys struggling to get their heads turned around, really solid. Lukus really stood out today, outside of the one play he lost contain on one of Wakes TD runs. Terrell may end up being a better DB than his older brother.

- Lastly, didn’t get to see it today but it’s comforting having a FG kicker again. Remember seeing one of the XP just looking so smooth and remembering the disaster kicking situation we were in last year.

This thing is really turning around nicely. Which is not something I anticipated feeling after watching the UGA game and firmly believe that if we come across UGA again at some point this year, that game plays out a lot differently than it did first game of the year. A deep playoff run isn’t out of the picture or realm of possibility this year.

Go Tigers! Keep it rolling! 🐅

a complete turn around from last week. very impressive. I also like how slow start and no one panics. as the game goes on both side of the ball improve thier level of play.

Absolutely. Feels like the last few seasons, if we’re trailing on the road at the end of the first, everyone’s “buttcheeks clinch” and Clemson was playing tight.
Not the case today. Played loose despite score or situation. Reminded me of the Pre-DJU years.

Clemdad, I couldn't agree with your assessment any more. We are a much more cohesive group. Not making mistakes either.

However, imho, I have to temper my enthusiasm because our schedule is soo weak. What would your assessment be of ole miss compared to us? Now we have a common opponent that played at wake. How good is Indiana?

Most say I'm negative, but all I'm saying is it all looks good, but the only team we've played with a pulse is uga. I totally get we can only play the hand dealt. But I'm not ready to anoint this team with the dw4 or Trevor teams. Unfortunately it seems like the next team we play with a pulse is probably the coots.

I can understand that sentiment.
My only rebuttal would be, remember in 16 & 18 when they said we played nobody and the playoffs would be a different story? We handled buisness.

Not saying that’ll happen this year just saying the age old argument has been that Clemson “plays no one” yet has held their own against the “upper echelon” teams when faced with the challenge.

All you can do is play who's in front of you and handle them the way you should if you’re that good and that’s what they’re doing.

Not saying we should have some hesitation when mapping out the rest of the season, just saying Clemson is looking the way they should against lower level competition up to this point.

They just need to follow Dabo's mantra...play to your ability and trust the coaches to have the gameplan

I actually think while Woods is incred8, his lack of quick twitch quoknness, is causing some of our inability to set tbe edge. The guy is freakishly athletic, but he is an inside guy. He should play spot duty on the edge. Just my take.

I think the contrary. The edge got set better today than it has the past couple weeks without him out there.

I’m convinced that this Tiger team is as good as any we have had recently. Without question it is a very well coached team .
Anxious to see this team as they continue to improve. Dabo and company have got it going!!!

They got much better food than whats served in Death Valley and, they have been offering beer, good ! beer for several years. Death Valley needs to do that.

“Several” is a dumb word.

I’m honestly just so surprised everytime I see Mafah run thru a defender. I never get tired of watching him do it either lol.
