O Line recruiting

Oct 26, 2017, 1:44 PM

Its getting down to the wire and its getting kinda dicey.

We are losing 2, and more than likely 3 OLinemen in Crowder, Morris, and Hyatt

So far we haven't signed a single Olineman in this class. The ones we are after are big time but we trail for a majority of them.

McFadden is committed to VT. I think we can pull him in and hope we do bc we need some depth.

Salyer is possible but most believe he will wind up at UGA

Carmen is a wildcard bc no one really truly knows what he will do. He doesn't mind leaving the state which is a good thing and we get an official visit. If he chose today however I'm thinking its either USC or OSU.

Mays is committed to Tenn. Yes we get two visits from him, but its going to be hard to pull a legacy from Tennessee. Has been done before though (Amari Rodgers). We also have our best recruiter on him in Mike Jones.

We really need 3 Olinemen in this class and right now I see maybe 1 and slim chance for 2.

2019 class we are going to need to take at least 5 and luckily there are some good ones out there that has interest and we have interest in them.

Devonte Dobbs #1 OT 5* he will be a tough pull from Michigan and Michigan St. but he has interest in us and we def. have interest in him.

Harry Miller 4* OT would be nice to steal an OL from Georgia

Michael Tarquin 4* OT

Warren McClendon 4* OT another GA olinemen that would be nice to have

Keiondre Jones 4* OG yep another GA lineman. Give me all of them.

Carter Colquitt 3* OT from GA

Ideally it would be great to get McFadden and Mays and try and sign 5 next class. I'm not saying we couldn't get Sayler and Carmen but its a tough pull for both guys.

Everytime I've seen that name the are punters / kickers it seems. Maybe he isnt related to those though

This is a kid, if we strike out on the 5 * (and yup, don't lead for anyone of them) kids, this is one guy I think we should re-circle back to and take a look at.

I think he's an athletic 400 pounds, remember seeing a video of him dunking a basketball during a visit to Clemson maybe last spring

He could redshift, trim 30-40 pounds, and be a force on the OL

No one else is an instant contributor, so why not take a waiver on this kid

XT / Mike Jones connection can certainly help

i think you are correct in your 1-2 assessment. I think we

may flip the VT kid and have a shot at Mays. Don't forget we redshirted several this year that will help with depth next year.

Have you ever seen us have enough good OL depth? Its better now than it was but we still have certain ones who whiff on blocks yet still play most snaps

He's a fourth year grad student, so still has 1 year of eligibility left after this season.

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

I stand corrected, thanks.

We have improved in this area but it hasnt been rolling yet. I think if Hyatt goes in the first round, that could really help us start winning some of these OL battles.

Hyatt is not going in the 1st Round

Oct 26, 2017, 4:50 PM

He has made strides, however, he must get stronger.

We will see, he's went up against "some of the best defenses ever" and held his ground just fine.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

he's been projected anywhere from #10 to early 2nd Rd

Oct 26, 2017, 5:25 PM [ in reply to Hyatt is not going in the 1st Round ]

I think he will go in the 20's of the first round. He has a good frame and still growing. He will be a good RT who could move to LT later in his career.

A playoff team or fringe playoff team who needs oline help will ###### him up. Steelers, Titans, Seahawks, Panthers, or Saints
