Now I think the ACC should merge with the B12 ...

yay. Now I think the ACC should merge with the B12 ... some may guffaw at the prospect, B12 "not worthy". Well, I guarantee for example the Houston, Kansas City, Phoenix, Denver, et al markets are much BIGGER than say the Greenville, Winston-Salem, Charlottsville markets. Its all about eyeballs and money.

I always thought trying schools like Kansas, TCU and Oklahoma St made more logistical sense than Cal, SMU and Stanford (even though SMU is a good addition) but a 34 team conference is unworkable.

Totally agree. Now if our dip crap commish hadn't been asleep at the wheel, we could have had a sweet deal to merge the two when Oklahoma and Texas were still in the b12.
We could have negotiated a deal to drop bc and cuse and they could have dropped 2. Or something to that affect... and we would have become the first mega conference of 20 members. When I worked for Clemson in the 80's, a team of us went to Oklahoma St. All of us from both universities were shocked at how close we aligned with each other.

The commissioner wasn't asleep at the wheel. There's no way that the Big 12 would have gone for that. Why in the world do you think Texas and Oklahoma would agree to some merger with the acc, when they could make a ton more money going to the sec? And before you say anything, I understand that you're saying that they should have made this deal before Oklahoma and Texas went to the sec. I'm telling you that even before that was on the table, Texas and Oklahoma still knew if they really wanted to they could get in the sec.

The settlement with increased payout for the high performance is nice, but not a long-term solution. The b12 is not the answer.

Some may say that a 30+ school Conference is awkward ... but basically its two Divisions and you play mostly in your own Division. I say drop all cupcakes and those slots are used to play cross Division Teams. Now those Cali Schools can stay West of the Mississippi and be happy ... I think TigerNet Nation would love to take a trip out to say Utah or Denver every decade or so to go enjoy a Western experience.
Money would be YUGE !

The Greenville market is actually one of the higher markets in the country when it comes to college football. If I’m not mistaken Go Tigers!!

In general if you look at amount of TV's that could watch then Clemson's home market wouldn't rank up there. When they measure those that do actually watch the market is consistently high for ESPN rankings.

Better yet - we should snag WVa from the Big 12 for these next

five years ahead of the next conference realignment round. They'd still make more money even if not qualifying for 'brand initiative' bonuses, they'd have the extra exposure with all sports on the ACCN, and we'd have a nice new Appalachian-centered football rivalry in our midst plus other sports closer geographically. They would likely pay for themselves also as an addition. Not the biggest market but their product and venue is more attractive for the casual fan, which carries a lot of value.

As much as I hate to say it I agree with you, sadly even that won't save our football future. The future is the Big10 and SEC, they will dominate and set all the rules; and not to mention, what kid would want to come play against the teams/the schedule we'll have versus teams in the Big10 or SEC...it's not even close. Sad sad state of affairs that we're left in the dying ACC, well, not dying, just will always be the red-headed step brother in the grand scheme moving forward.

The SEC might have some name recognition, but the B1G, not so much. After Penn St, tOSU, Mich, USC, and Oregon, there isn't much there. Did you see what Indiana did with a mediocre team. The ACC has some work to do, but the potential is there. Louisville and SMU are both schools willing to put what it takes into their football programs. Stanford and to a lesser degree, Cal have some football history. FSU, Clemson, and Miami are all potential national champions. UNC, NC St, and Va Tech all have the potential to shine and all have solid alumni followings. Duke and Wake can outpunch their weight class but providing the occasional quality opponent is their ceiling. No national championships.
In the B1G, you've got Rutgers, Maryland, Purdue, Northwestern, and Minnesota all with a very low ceiling. Nebraska, Mich St, Washington, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and Indiana have only a slightly higher ceiling. USC and UCLA bring in a good market, but LA is dominated by professional sports.
Would I take them over the ACC, yeah, but the margin is greater at the top than the rank and file.
Likewise, the SEC had a good year, but usually only has 1-2 really good teams. In the long term, I think they can count on UT and Ga. Alabama will come back strong, but the other UT, LSU, OK and the Mississippi schools are hit and miss. Sometimes, they really miss. Again, stronger from top to bottom than both the B1G and ACC, but weaker at the top than the B1G.

propagated by John Swofford whose son, Chad, worked in the BC athletic department at the time. I have no doubt both John and Chad received some kickbacks for helping to get BC into the ACC.
Back in 2012, if you wondered why the ACC insisted that Raycom be part of their tier II TV deal instead of FOX or another major network, when Chad Swofford left BC he joined, you guessed it, Raycom where he would become the Senior Director of New Media and Business Development.
A coincidence? I think not!
I have no doubt that both John and Chad received kickbacks for that deal too.

Your coots have 4 ten win seasons in 135 years.

Clemson has that many in the last 5 years alone.
We have 14 straight seasons with 9+ wins - only us and Alabama have done that. You have a streak of ONE nine win season.
Clemson has a 14 year streak of at least one postseason win. We are the ONLY team to do that. You have a streak of ZERO years with a postseason win.
Clemson is 2nd in wins in the playoff era. You’re 77th 🤣🤣🤣
We have more revenue than you, despite your SEC badge.
We have one of the nations best grad rates. Yours sucks balls.
So coot, who cares about conference when we are CLEARLY immensely better than you in every measurable.
Hey too, how’d you enjoy getting your a$S kicked in baseball?
You lose, clown. Stop the pathetic charade.

Name for merged ACC + B12 Conference ? All Coast Conf. or Bi-Coastal Conf. ?
Mar 3, 2025, 9:16 PM

IF All Coast Conference much money would be saved on printing new letterhead and Logo
If Bi-Coastal (BCC) would represent the new order of things, from sea to shining sea
I think I like All Coast Conference, I'm old and it just makes me feel better
