There will be a Power Conference before too long and ND will be included then. Dabo has pretty much he sees the direction of college football going to super league then the rest of sports staying in conferences. He said so earlier this year.

Few teams could get an independent network contract like the ND/NBC aggrement.

They won't join a conference until it makes financial sense to join.

If B1G and SEC refuse to schedule them.
If B1G and SEC set up a SuperLeague with only member of their conferences involved.
If NBC decides not to keep giving them a lucrative TV deal.

There may be some other "ifs" but I can't think of any.

Another "if". SEC and BIG change the rules that Independents do not get the same pay out as the conferences. They only get an average of what one team would get.

Why would they. They build their own schedule and keep all their money in addition NBC gives their own contract snd pays them 4 million each game. No one should schedule them.

Notre Dame is a national school where Clemson is regional. The have more fans than most conferences have. Catholics all around the world know about Notre Dame.

Notre Dame has more money potential than 99 percent of the other teams just on its alumni base alone . ND can’t match Michigan or Ohio state as those have huge bases plus larger tv contracts but ND can blow past most
