Not trying to get negative here

But I must be realistic.
If Clemson can’t get out of the ACC, guys it’s going to be really tough to stay nationally relevant.
Basically any conference besides the SEC and BIG12 will be looked at as close to Mid-Major conferences.
Not to mention that being in the ACC has slowed our progression. And actually stunted our recruiting as well as our performance.
So what is going on here? We’ve all discussed every single possible way to get out, but nothing’s happening.

The reality is we've been carrying the league in football for years so I don't think being in the ACC will continue to matter that much. With playoff expansion coming, we have a chance to continue to be relevant IF we can recruit well. I know that may be a big IF because the SEC and B1G are going to use the ACC against us but they have been doing that for years anyway so nothing new.
Clemson just needs to stay focused on Clemson and there is no better coach than Dabo to help make sure that happens.

The $50 million or greater lose in revenue to other teams will make a great difference. I still don’t understand how anyone at Clemson was stupid enough to sign the GOR.

It's the year by year stacking of the 50 mil in revenue defecit that will put relevance and distance between us and them. Metaphorically, won't be noticeable in the next 2-3 years as the elite coaching staff remains steadfast and resilient but will inevitably creep up then suddenly they're almost out of sight just barely visible in the distance—

South Carolina has hung the SEC banner for 32 years, which is the only banner they’ve hung. Hasn’t helped them.

Thats because they dont have a winning history. They have the money, facilities, big name coaches, but I think most kids are attracted to the history of success.

And only an absolute pin-head thinks Clemson is stuck in the ACC.
What's going on here is might be that #1 you have a small brain and couldn't think your way out of a cardboard box. Option #2 is that you're a South Carolina fan who mostly have small brains...so you know the rest.
You're welcome.

Double negative intended.
Something is happening. It's just not happening in public. X-twitter or twitter-X doesn't know what's happening. Neither does Facebook. Neither does youtuve.
But, there is no doubt in my mind there is a lot, a WHOLE LOT, happening.

Two Nattys tend to disprove your assumption. That being said, with the new playoff setup, if players want to win Nattys, there will be no better place to go than Clemson in the ACC. We polish our trophys with the tears of teams in the BIG10 and BIG12, and most of the teams in the SEC.

I actually just went through all the SEC teams Clemson has played and what the outcome was. It seems to be pretty equal. Clemson has won some, the SEC has won some. It certainly hasn't been one-sided in Clemson's favor.

That’s an interesting point that I’ve mulled over a lot.
But it’s crazy how different the landscape is now than it was even 8 years ago.
It’s almost like national championships aren’t even what players want anymore. They are starting to view it as mainly professional development with money involved. And the SEC is the best place for that.
I’m talking about long-term relevance. We may very well be dominant for a little bit, but how long until things catch up to us?
That is the million dollar question.

Either you clearly cited us as the Rare exception to the rule or you believe that having $50mil less revenue ANNUALLY is an advantage over the teams that do—

Coots say we won two titles by playing in an easy conference

Yet in the same breath they say they have an advantage playing in a “tough”conference. We will make a 12 team playoff if we deserve it, no matter what conference we play in.

Wow! Really wasn't expecting this post to get such a negative reaction. Under the new realigned conferences, the majority of revenue will be distributed to the SEC, B1G, and BIG12. Especially in the world of NIL, you need those resources to recruit well and remain a top tier program nationally. If P5 structure remained the same, I'd be perfectly fine with Clemson in the ACC, but the formation of these super conferences will make any team not in one of them irrelevant.

It seems the ACC (commissioner) is reeling, so doing anything he can to keep the ACC conference from imploding. Just my thought.

While I want out of the ACC as much as anybody--and that's a big deal for me, cause I love the ACC-- the mere fact that Clemson would have a big revenue gap wouldn't automatically mean that we'd be relegated to the minor leagues.
It wouldn't mean that Alabama & OSU, et al. would be automatically Natty contenders every year. Success is not primarily a money issue (money is a big help, yes). Look at Boise State under Chris Peterson. Bama, OSU, and the other "blue bloods" have been cycling in and out for as long as they've played football, and Alabama in particular is going to have a really hard time replacing Nick Saban, no matter how much money they have to throw around. NFL coaches seem to bomb at the college level, just like vice versa. Expect a big fall-off when Saban retires, no matter who they hire to replace him (much like in the 80's after the Bear passed). Look at Florida, Texas, USC now, who've not been able to put much of anything together in a decade or more. A&M's huge cash pile hasn't pushed them past Clemson, a fact we've proved on the field.
Yes, they will be able to poach good coaches, but that doesn't always pan out: TB being exhibit #1, but think also of Scott Frost, Rich Rod, Petrino, and others. Clemson eventually seems to find coaching gold in the strangest places.
I suppose we could be blacklisted by the big 2 conferences, but I just don't see that happening to an intact ACC. There's too much tradition and potential here with us, FSU, & Miami, especially, but even Wake puts together really good football teams from time to time.
So while my blood pressure is elevated while we go through this winnowing process, and while I DO want out of the ACC, I still think we'll be ok even in a worst-case scenario (i.e., unbreakable GOR).
