Fans just wanted him to win. He has been finally doing that without bad losses for two years now. Some things take years to become great. Happy he has come into his own!
Go Tigers, keep winning!

Seems like he's being paid pretty well.
I don't see him as a hot prospect to energize a fan base.
He's certainly not a young and upcoming coach.
What job do you think he'd be offered that is a step up from Clemson?
I mean, there are better jobs than Clemson but not ones that would consider hiring him.

Elite eight last year and not even ranked right now, fire Brownell. Just kidding obviously, our Tigers will be rightfully ranked tomorrow probably around 19 or 20. I hope we finish strong and the fire Brad crowd stays quiet. BTW, at times I understood the fire Brad crowd but clearly not last year or this year.

I'm right here. Two years ago after we started so great then tanked and got beat by Moorehead State. I finally gave in after defending him for years. That was after not even making the NIT the year before. I mean he made like 3 Ncaa tournaments in 11 years before last year. Glad he did not get fired though. Seems to have hit his stride.

Clemson has poured money into basketball since Brownell got here.
That's one of the many reasons people were unhappy with the lack of success.
Brownell has done really well in the transfer portal recently.
I'm sure NIL is most of that but supposedly that's not the school.

Brownell has roughly a 25% success rate over his tenure here of outperforming our budget and resource ranking by season's end, no matter the number, and two of those that count towards that have been these last two. What's past is past, though, and for the long-suffering Clemson hoops fan - last season's finish and this season's YTD have been outstanding and hopefully signs that the decade plus of frustrations and Groundhog Days leading up will have been worth it.
Enjoying ride today for sure as it's been a long, looooong time coming.
Go Tigers! Go Brad!

I definitely was not pro Brownell but he has done much better than I thought he was capable the last three years.
I heavily campaigned for his replacement to be Pat Kelsey and that has worked very nicely for Lewiville.
I'm happy for CBB but we're losing a ton this year so it will be a challenge to replace 4/5 of our starters for next year.

Maybe Brownell is a late bloomer. Either he is coaching better or has better talent but it is working presently. It also helps that the ACC MBB is down.

Not really. I am thrilled to see clemson basketball win and do it in the state of north carolina. I hope a game doesn't come to clock management but this is a heck of a ball team. The nil really separates the have from the have nots. I don't care if a monkey is coaching. Take ur crap and leave scok

You might not realize that. But you are indeed a pot stirrer
Regarding Brownell, we never know how the pressure fans apply to heat up the seat of head coaches benefits their performance.
Tyler for instance on his call to Coach Dabo certainly seemed to wake up even a legend like him. Just enjoy and remember what goes up inevitably comes back down.

I mean, he had 12 friggin years, man.
But I am happy he stayed, and this basketball team is fun to watch.
It is funny that the Dabo sycophant crowd hates Brownell for some reason, even now. Never been able to get my head around that dichotomy.

It's a valid question.
The answer is equally valid: Brownell has delivered exactly zero ACC crowns and one E8 in 15 years.
So his high water mark, up to this point, is unremarkable.
Therefore, you probably shouldn't wonder why some folks don't see in him what you see in him.
Maybe this year they'll win the ACC. It's certainly ripe for the taking. If he finally turns that corner, he should get another few years to build on that accomplishment by winning a couple more. And possibly making a run to the F4 or a national championship.
Not sure he's building a national-caliber program, though. More a quick-hit/portal approach.

He gave us the best season in our program's basketball history last year.
Making the Elite Eight is a huge deal. We've only done it one other time, and it wasn't done by Barnes, Purnell, or Ellis - the coaches that many of our fans here oddly seem to revere a lot more than they do Brownell.

back onto the Brownlee bandwagon that I exited about four years ago, after waiting all that time for him to produce results. Even in an obviously weakened ACC, he has still not managed to win it. And, now having to hit the Transfer Portal every year to build a roster is NOT my idea of building a PROGRAM. But, even so, if he was winning the league with that philosophy, I could maybe get behind it.
I put that Elite Eight appearance right on par with Notre Dame's 1988 football Natty. Many of those players said they won it in spite of their coach being Granny Holtz, not because OF him. Ditto.
You have obviously been sucked in, once again, by the spurt of regular season success we are having right now. I love Clemson basketball, and THAT is why I want better than Brad Brownell as our coach. He will never be any better than he is right now. Lucy will yank the ball away again, just as she always does, and we will sail through the air shouting "ARGHH, I CAN'T STAND IT!" before crashing down on our backside one more time.
WE DESERVE BETTER THAN BRAD BROWNELL AS A COACH!
But, as long as you sheep are happy with mediocrity, elevated by occasional good luck brought on by individual players playing above their coaching, we will never get there. That plain enough for you?

You used to complain that we weren't one of the best teams in the ACC, and said that we should be - even though that was never our program's history.
Brownell has had us as one of the most successful and consistent ACC teams in recent years, and then the criticism became that he hadn't had enough NCAA Tournament success.
Then he gave us an Elite Eight run last year, and our most successful season in program history, and now the complaint is that he hasn't won a conference championship - despite no Clemson basketball coach ever doing so.
What's awesome is that since getting more support from the administration, our program has improved. Recruiting has gotten better, and our performance on the court has gotten better. "Waiting all that time for him to produce results" was less about Brownell figuring it out, and more about having an administration that actually supported basketball and gave him some of the things he needed.
We are doing great this year, just as we have been in recent years. This is supposed to be fun, and it's sad that you don't seem to be enjoying it. It seems that you just want something to whine about.

the ACC is a pretty pathetic argument for keeping Brownell around. I want a coach that competes for, and WINS conference championships, just as a STARTER for further advancement. Yes, Clemson has never had that. But, as the football program that you love to bash proves, we CAN have that, if we get the right coach. We don't have him yet in basketball. I don't even pretend to know who he is, but I FOR SURE know who he AIN'T.

When we were underperforming and losing games we should win and finishing toward the bottom of the conference we were not happy and felt a change was needed. However, I could not be happier with Brownell and the team over the past two seasons. I pray that it last.
