Cam Newton says Watson gets his Heisman vote
Former Heisman Trophy winners get a vote for college football’s most prestigious award, and 2010 Heisman winner and current Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton already knows who will get his vote – Clemson’s Deshaun Watson. (Jeremy Brevard / USATODAY) Full Story » |

Of course! And why wouldn't he. Isn't everything about him? Can you imagine how hard it is to be humble? So glad we have Watson and not him. GO TIGERS!!!

I don't read it that way.Cam Newton is not what you paint him to be but i guess it all comes down to opinions and most have a good opinion of Newton.

Watson gets Heisman vote

From one of the biggest baby's in the NFL. I personally believe that Watson will be a far better QB In the league then cam. I'm a panther fan. I find it strange how the panthers and tigers mirror each other. Like they are both at 13 straight games. But I've never liked cam. Just don't! He just thinks way to much of himself. He's having a good year. But the panther D has a lot to do with that. But would love to see Waston at Carolina ( panthers) GO TIGERS

U have to have confidence as an NFL qb. Shout out to Cam for recognizing the importance of Watson to this team. He carried us to victory over FSU and Syracuse.

Not sure why you guys are giving Cam so much grief ...

He is doing something that is frowned upon by discussing and disclosing who he will be voting for so he can talk about Deshaun. I am wondering if y'all even read to the end of the article or just stopped after the line where Cam says "the time I spend with the kids, my foundation, my 7-on-7 tourneys." (which is the line I assume you are referring to when you say Cam is "making it all about him"). All I think Cam is trying to say there is that he puts in a lot of time and work helping develop young players, and it's nice to see a guy you have helped since he was 14 have so much success in college ball.
Anyway I think this is great that Cam came out and said DW4 is the man and that's who he is voting for.
For the record I am not a Panthers fan and I have never really cared for Cam Newton.

Would you let him date your daughter? I hope: NO!! His college life was full of controversy. Usually, if there is smoke, there's fire. I USED to pull for the Panthers. He drove me away. I actually have a hard time finding people that like him. The ONLY thing i like that he does is giving kids TD balls. Other than that, he's a sore winner, sore loser, and a showboat. I judge most men on how humble they are, honesty, and if I would let them date my daughter. He fails all those tests. In MANY people's eyes. He is one of the most talented players to play QB. He is also quite the philanthropist. But, I would die if I caught my son emulating him. Or, my daughter dating him. I'm not alone in this. I know 5 guys that sold their season tickets because of him. But, your entitled to your opinion the same as I am. Give me CJ Spiller, or Drew Brees. This guys could date my daughter. And, I'd be thrilled to see a son emulate them. That's just my opinion. And, most of the people I know feel the same way.

Drew Brees is a #####!

Brees is one of the biggest cry babies in football along with Matt Ryan. Both are a couple of #######. I despised Cam during college, hated the Panthers drafted him, & to this day I hate his first down celebration. Living and working so close to Charlotte I can tell you that he devotes more personal time to children than any athlete in the history of the Panthers or Hornets. It's not a racial service he does either. Black or white he gives a lot. Can't say the same for most professional athletes.

Because of all the trouble that follows him. His crying on the side lines. Literally crying. Not because the team lost. But because he got picked off or got in trouble. And as you said" he's not suppose to say who he's voting for" well then don't do it. He's breaking the rules because he thinks he bigger then the traditional etiquette . he has no respect for the way you do things. Nothing so becomes a man in a position of fame as humility. Cam Newton has no humility with in him. I don't know a fan of Newton. I am a major Fan of deshaun Watson. I saw high school film and told everyone I know that he was a superstar. I still think so. GO TIGERS!!!

Please name one piece of trouble that has followed Cam since he has been in the league. Are you confusing "Cam crying" with Rodgers throwing down his tablet, or Brady chasing refs off the field screaming at them, or Matt Ryan pouting all game? Or do you just hate Cam and make up reasons to justify it for you?

I, as a panther fan, am so glad that you and your "5 friends" stopped pulling for the panthers. Thank you. It's fans like you that give real fans a bad name. He has not done one wrong thing for this team or community, and our fan base is better without y'all. You and your "5 friends" are probably the same Clemson "fans" that hid all your orange during USuC's little five year streak. Thanks again for leaving and I hope you enjoy watching Cam in the playoffs, but please don't come back.

I count all pro Clemson/Watson for Heisman a great thing

For the team/school I love, it adds value to my & your education plus it promotes recruiting when you have had a Heisman QB/Player. That was in the national media and whether I like Newton are not doesn't matter. It would be awesome to have a Heisman player while you are the Number 1 team in the country.
My opinion is if I don't know a person I try not to place judgement on him unless he's a coot..lol,..kidding
I would vote for Watson too if I was Newton! I think Newton is a lot like Watson but Like the rest of us he has a different personality. God made Newton with a colorful loud personality and we know Watson is quiet but a sponge like Newton in learning his craft. The stuff Neton did at a younger age is probably no different from the rest of us at age 17-23, the brain isn't fully formed until your 23. I thought I thought I was made to sleep with every woman and be person who set up every party.
I would hate for others to judge me on my merits at 17-23. I'm so thankful I found Jesus. I do think Cam and Deshaun have being prepared and competitive in common.
Go Tigers! Go Watson win the Heisman!

although I relate and identify with Watson I still respect and enjoy Cam Newton's personality! The guy competes with himself which in turn makes his team better and I respect that! That is just my opinion

Cam's "adversity" was caused by his own actions. He obviously had some major character issues when he started college. It APPEARS he has gotten passed that.
His biggest flaw since being with the Panthers has been his attitude. During the first couple of years when things weren't going his way he would sit on the bench with a towel on his head and pout like a spoiled brat. He was a horrible team leader.
Starting last season that seemed to change. I think he's starting to grow up and mature as a person and a player. Hopefully this isn't just because of the success on the field.
He did a lot of damage to his reputation in college and the first part of his NFL career. It's going to take a while to repair that damage.

The majority of comments on this thread remind me why I can't stand those football fans that have an opinion on something without actually knowing anything about it. Anybody who still hates Cam because he "pouts on the sideline" clearly hasn't watched a game since 2012. Yeah he came into the league a little spoiled because he'd never really experienced losing before. He grew over those first couple of seasons and eventually became a team captain and team leader with endorsements from incredibly well-respected guys like Jordan Gross, Ryan Kalil, Greg Olsen, Charles Johnson, and Thomas Davis, not to mention a few old vets like Jerricho Cotchery and Roman Harper who came in an talked about how impressed they were with him. Anybody who thinks he's more concerned with stats than his team clearly hasn't watched this year. His stats are down across the board, but he doesn't care because his team is 9-0. Yeah he dances when he scores. So what? Brady spikes the ball and screams. Rodgers does a championship belt thing and generally comes off as one of the most arrogant guys in the league during his interviews. People rip on Cam because they think he should behave more like Russell Wilson. But he's not Russell Wilson. And he's not going to change who he is because of some ignorant fan or reporter's outside opinion. He's just out there winning games, and Carolina is undefeated not because they have more talent on the field than 30 other NFL teams, but because they are a genuine team. If Newton was the guy you people seem to think he is, they wouldn't be able to have that true team mentality because he'd be dividing the locker room. And you guys do realize that our "golden boy" Deshaun Watson does the celebrations too right? They're more muted, but I have a good feeling that's just because of the stricter celebration rules in college. Once he gets to the NFL, he'll let his personality out too.

I had a few Converstions with people on here back and forth. They gave their opinion I gave mine. I'm good with that. This is what I and many others like me have fought in god forsaken countries all over the world for. Freedom. To think what you want to and form your own opinion. I'm OK with them. What I don't care for is the people who think that if you don't think like them your dumb or didn't do your home work. I know all about cam newton . I am and have been a panther fan since the organization was conceived. I was at the first game in death valley. So I know about him and don't like him. I don't hate him. I have a bad opinion of his character. Much like people who try to tell others how to think. I made my opinion. Make one for yourself. Its called freedom. Be glad you have it. Because there are people trying to take it. And people in our military and military contractors , right now . fighting and dying to preserve that right. GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!

"He's too arrogant, he talks about himself too much, he needs to humble himself." Don't humble yourself for anybody. Keep dancing, keep celebrating, keep having fun, and keep holding your head up high. Never let these people try to humble your greatness. Same goes for DW4.
