Not liking Dabo dishing on Cade

….. seems like he’s trying to deflect. It’s on him. If his players don’t have the discipline to follow a play call, it’s on him.
He shouldn’t be throwing any player under the bus’s like that. IMO that should stay within the team, not blasted out.
Makes it look like he is placing blame and trying to deflect. Not good leadership in my opinion.
When something goes wrong good leaders look in mirror, when something goes right, good leaders point to others out the window.

Maybe. Maybe not. Cade came out and said the last play was on him... so this is coach just backing up what he's saying. As long as the two of them are in step then it's not an issue.
And there's simply no way we can know that from the outside.

Cade: “That last play was all on me.”
Dabo: “You see, you see, I told you that last play was on HIM!”

Here's the thing, there's not really anything he can say that will make anyone feel GOOD about the game. But what's he supposed to say when asked 'Was that last play an RPO?' knowing it was a handoff and Cade went rogue? He could lie, or simply tell the truth. Yep, the call was run up the middle. That wasn't what HAPPENED, but that's what was called.
*shrugs*
I think there's enough to take issue with without looking for things.

I disagree. If the call was a straight hand off, which it should have been from the 6” line, and Cade pulled it, it’s fine letting the world know. That’s part of the punishment. Dabo has got to cover his own behind especially after the OT issue against FSU.

I don’t have a problem with it at all.
Cade is not going to get his feelings hurt.

These players continuingly making mistakes, Klubnik and Shipley primarily, need to be called out. If you earn NIL dollars, and they both do, you take the criticism that comes with it. Long overdue.

He took responsibility for the fumbles, which in my mind is a bit of a stretch. When someone asks Dabo a question minutes after something like that has just happened, he is going to tell them the truth. That’s all he did. He looked like he still couldn’t believe it himself. That’s why he said he has not answer for it. He hadn’t had time to really talk it out with Cade. He knew what happened but Cade was the only person who could answer why it happened.

All I can say is they watch HH in practice. If Cade is that much better maybe we really don’t want to see him out there

Every Clemson fan wanted to see Cade play when DJU was struggling to complete a 5 yard pass. None of us could understand it when Dabo said Cade was not yet ready to play. Based on the first 8 games Cade has started, I have a good understanding of what Dabo was talking about. Cade has played well at times, and poorly at times.
The comparison to Deshaun Watson need to stop until the results on the field match what we saw out of Deshaun. Deshaun was a high risk/ high reward QB. He threw a lot of interceptions but his leadership and skills were incredible. When the Tigers needed him he showed up in a big way.
We have too many 4* and 5* high school superstars that are falling flat at Clemson. There is still time for Cade, but now we are hearing he cannot even follow instructions.
The season has been a dissappointment so far and running out of ways to make it a success.

Saying that he wasn’t an option to pull it isn’t dishing on Cade it’s what happened. If he would’ve try to cover it then you would’ve bashed him for babying him.

I don’t remember hearing Dabo credit Cade for going rogue in the Wake game and pulling it and scoring on a play that had no green light. Did I miss that?

I see two sides to this issue. I've rarely if ever seen Dabo so pointedly call out and blame one player. It seemed way out of character for Dabo. Not sure why Dabo did it like that. On the other hand, I'm very proud of Cade owning up to his mistake. What he did is different for anyone, even adults. If what Cade thought he saw was true and not a deception, and he runs for a TD, he'd be a hero and Dsbo would be praising Cade for being smart and gutsy. But that's the thin line that Cade walked. He took a chance and it didn't work. But he was thinking and learning. I guess Cade knows now when he can think for himself. Never or only during RPOs.
