You can call it whatever minuscule percentage of fans you want, 1.5% or whatever..
But I don’t like how personal Dabo got in response. Even if the guy maybe tried to agitate Dabo. You are in a radio show on Monday night after the 4th loss, there’s going to be a guy who gets direct and blunt about how things are.
But 100% of the fans don’t want to see Dabo fail. Even the guy calling in. Pretty straightforward stuff said by the guy, but it’s what everybody is wondering about Dabo.
I actually really didn’t appreciate the attitude that caller had.
Dabo, you’ve got to realize the roots of where these questions are coming from. And these accusations.
You’ve once again flaunted 10 years of success and accolades for why fans shouldn’t ever be dissatisfied.
Yes you are right. You are the greatest thing that’s ever happened to this University. But please where is the humbleness? Don’t you think you could’ve handled that situation better?
And lastly, you have once again mentioned the sheer existence of a thought about leaving for fan appreciation elsewhere.
Besides, according to you 98.5% of fans support you. That’s a hel* of a lot more than a majority of college fan bases would at this moment.
Not based on your personality or who you are, but the glaring lack of performance. It’s not just a “drop off” from what we were. It’s a total 180 degrees from being close to playoff good. This is why. Not all the close wins to keep out 10 win season streak alive, but about the amount of struggle it took to get them.

Pretty good post. I agree with 99% of what you said.
Though I strongly disagree with the idea that Dabo is the best thing to happen to Clemson. Clemson is not a football team. It's a school. The football team is a little side project. We could drop it tomorrow. People would be bummed, but Clemson would go on. No football player or football coach is the "best thing" to have to the university. Get your priorities straight.

I bet if you hired an economist to do an economic impact study Dabo would probably be the single largest positive benefit in the history of the University and Town, even adjusted for inflation, beside the original land grant.

A school is more than just an economic analysis. Or at least it should be. How big of an economic impact does Chomsky have to MIT? Not a very big one. But he's the greatest linguistics professor in the world and changed a ton in society. If you run a school like a profit-maximizing institution, you get a terrible return in student quality and influence. Look at the terrible law schools in South Carolina. They both had the same terrible approach.

As the kind of wonk that has actually read Chomsky I’d say you’re greatly overvaluing his legacy. And I didn’t say economics would be the only measure. I was just pointing it as one measure to someone insisting that Dabo wasn’t. I don’t think there is any particular reason to go around saying “Dabo is the greatest thing to happen to Clemson!” It’s a silly sentiment. But he’s more than earned his salary. Clemson AD revenue has grown more than 260% during his tenure. 100% more than the ACC average over that period. More than 100% more than Alabama over that period. That doesn’t include capital gifts and investments outside the Athletic Department.

You are right about the last couple of seasons. There were some very ugly wins and lucky breaks to get to 10 wins against very weak schedules. How many quality wins were there in the last 3 years?

How much financial gain has Clemson obtained since Dabo was hired?
Had Clemson ever been publicized as much before Dabo?
I am not familiar with how many coaches there are that actually get involved within their University, maybe quite a bit, but Dabo is dedicated to the whole University. And academics have stayed a priority.
Dabo will not let the “class” of this program get rocked around. There is a certain way of business Dabo is going to use.
Most important of all, Dabo truly believes nothing is wrong. He has unbreakable optimism and belief. And that is why he is angry. Because he does not believe what the fans believe.
There is conflict between the fan base and Dabo now. Where will this eventually lead?
My thought is that many fans will regret things they have said of Dabo. His passion is what drove us through success. And he is still who he is.

“ why fans shouldn’t ever be dissatisfied. “ - how about they turn into raving idiots the second there is literally anything less than an all time historic streak of success. You’re dramatically underselling the profound stupidity that permeates this fan base.

That’s right. Your job is to watch and not speak. I’m beginning to question cheering at games as this is a form of personal expression

Also, not at all what was said. Pretending you don’t see what is being said as you quietly slide up next to the people firing character assassination and going “wut?? We’re just asking questions” is a pathetic look.

I happen to believe in both free speech and that Tigernet is an open forum. Some of you on here take this as some religious site, where only approved speech can be condoned. I don’t have to like everything a person says to agree with them and as you have seen of me I don’t click up and bully others. I have my opinion, I certainly make it known without fear.
You can say something about our president, the pope or Dabo. If it’s your opinion and you truly believe it let it fly. Please remove that chip off your shoulder and win arguments the old fashioned way, by being right

You’re protraying your self as a high-roading rationalist but this is what I was responding to:
“ That’s right. Your job is to watch and not speak. I’m beginning to question cheering at games as this is a form of personal expression”
So please, let me know how my response didn’t directly address this and what items of debate I’ve left unaddressed.

You’re just wanting to argue. My comment was light hearted and funny to everyone else that would have read it.
I can appreciate the desire to debate, to go deep into subjects and at times I do this. Tonight we are simply chatting about what are arguably very simpleton like comments from our HBC and what if any impact this has on the future of the team.
Philosophy, History and our beloved Engineering schools are all tucked safely in bed. Haha have a good evening and don’t take me too seriously

Are you really pretending that you only see people asking about the portal? Because it’s been asked and answered over and over again. Going to pretend you don’t see all of the personal attacks that have nothing to do with legitimate inquiry, curiosity, or concern?
