Is Chase Hunter one of the best guards in Clemson History?

Has to be as far as success and all time records. Definitely might be the best for most clutch shots. For the past three years has been a integral part of team as far as statistical numbers and success. I would put up with three other guards in the modern era of Clemson Basketball: Skip Wise, Billy Williams, and Terrel McIntyre. Maybe put up Marcquise Reed up there as well but can't think you would put anyone else above or close to him.

with him it is overall game. He cans score 3 pt, mid range, drive to rim. Good ft shooter, defender, and shot blocker. He also brings a steady and reassuring presence regardless of situation. He goes and does what is needed

Another guard in that list would probably be Grayson Marshall but he wasn't the scorer that those other guys were. But as far a pure point guards he was one of the best.

Stitt and Hammonds also come to mind as good ones. And Jordan Roper coming back to play afer suffering a stroke.

I remember Grayson for a memorable quote. Wake beat us early in the season at their place, and Bogues had a huge game. Before the return game at our place, Grayson said, “I run the show at Littlejohn”. He proved it by playing a great game, and we won.

he is free to play his natural two spot, he has emerged into an NBA candidate. One of the few five year guys ( or now six year) to really up their NBA stock by taking their max years in college. Shows you how brownells staff can develop a player as well..his deep three is showing out

Skip Wise is the best on my list.
I personally think Chis Whitney may have been the 2nd best guard to come through. A junior college transfer. Played in the early 90s.
Others that come to mind are Tmac, Stitt, Marshall, Code, Hammonds, Scott & Solomon.

Very good list, but Chase is most likely going to one of few to make 1st team All-ACC. He will definitely be near the top as the years go by.

To be fair the competition is not what it once was. At one time, and I’m not taking anything away from Chase, the ACC was full of top tier basketball talent. An all time ACC list would be impossible to agree upon besides MJ and Len Bias.

Agree. Billy Williams and Bobby Conrad were a great back court to watch. Those two really spanked North Carolina in Little John.Pure talent Skip Wise was as good as I remember.
Looking forward to Chase Hunter, giving me some memorable games this year to cement his place. His statistics at this point speak for themselves.

Butch Zetazalo made All-ACC all three years (Fresnmen couldn'play) and averaged 23.5 points/game over his career! That's pretty impressive!

Demontez Stitt (RIP) still reigns supreme in my book for the simple fact that he helped us to four straight NCAA appearances in the four years he was here, under two different coaches. He was a force in all facets of the position. Give him two more seasons and we're not even debating.

Right now I think he is the best player in the ACC ..... bar none. We have had some outstanding guards. One that comes to mind is Edward Scott, who like Chase, just got better and better every single year. I love watching young players like Scott and Hunter develop.

He would have been if he had played more than one year. Opinions can differ, but I don't consider any one year player a "best" at Clemson. Also, the number of years in the NBA does not make them the best at Clemson.

Yes, he is! You could base it solely on his clutch shots!! He's hit many. But also his overall game! He can shoot, handle, drive to the paint at will........ And he plays hard!! There aren't many I'd trade for him! Maybe a Marshall, Buckner, Hammonds...... but Chase is plenty good!!
